Week 6 TE Rankings

Despite what on paper looks like a tough matchup this Sunday against the Steelers, I have Travis Kelce in as my No.2 tight end this week. He’s a primary weapon in an offense that’s running in high gear. The Steelers have good numbers against tight ends, but they have yet to face this caliber of a tight end. Kelce cleared the concussion protocol and was left on the Chiefs injury report. He’s good to go.

Sliding up to the No.6 spot this week is the Chargers tight end Hunter Henry. He’s moved past Gates in productivity this season and has scored in two straight contests. He’s got a good shot at making it three in a row with a matchup against the Raiders on Sunday. Last season against the Silver and Black, Henry found the end zone in both games played.

Week 6 WR Rankings

The Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan has emerged as Tom Brady’s go to receiver this season. Through five games Hogan is the No.5 fantasy WR in PPR with 23 receptions for 288 yards and 5 touchdowns. He is one of Brady’s biggest targets next to Gronk and has become an endzone favorite this season. He’s my No.10 fantasy receiver this week.

The Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is currently residing outside the Top-50 fantasy WR’s in PPR through five weeks, but this could be the week he cracks that barrier. Pryor looked pretty sharp in his last game and it would have been even better had he hung onto a go ahead touchdown reception late in the 4th quarter against the Chiefs back in week 4. Coming off the bye, he’ll be fresh and ready to attack a Niners secondary that allows the 8th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. He’s my No.14 fantasy WR this week.

With receiver Stefon Diggs sidelined this week with a groin injury, the other half of the Wonder Twins, Vikings receiver Adam Thielen should see a heavy dose of targets on Sunday. Thielen is the No.22 fantasy WR in PPR this season, but with no Diggs he’ll be the number one on Sunday and will have a great shot at moving into the Top-20.

Week 6 RB Rankings

This has to be PPR Week in the NFL. All the way up to No.14 this week is the Browns running back Duke Johnson Jr, solely on his receiving prowess. Through five weeks Johnson has powered his way up to the No.8 fantasy RB spot in PPR with 23 receptions on 31 targets. With only 16 carries, Duke is basically used as another receiver and stays heavily involved. Last week his touches and targets dipped a bit, but this week against a battered Texans defense he’ll likely take advantage.

Another PPR specialist that should make a lot of noise this week is Patriots running back James White. The Patriots ball carrier comes in at No.20 and that’s right where he is on the season; the No.20 fantasy RB in PPR. Through the team’s first five games White has been targeted 35 times and snagged 29 balls. He’s at home this week and will take his shots at a jets defense that allows the 5th most fantasy points to opposing running backs; he may not be high enough in this week’s rankings.

RB Rankings

1. Kareem Hunt
2. Todd Gurley
3. Le’Veon Bell

Week 6 QB Rankings

I’m showing a lot of confidence in Kirk Cousins this week. I saw solid back-to-back games in weeks 3 & 4; if not for a dropped pass in the end zone, Cousins numbers would have looked that much better and the Redskins would be coming off a two game winning streak. Cousins is only the No.16 fantasy QB through five weeks, but I think he’s on the move and I like him as my No.6 QB this week.

Like Cousins, I think Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers (No.11 fantasy QB) is set to deliver another strong performance. In his last two starts, Rivers is averaging over 20 fantasy points per game; he has passed for over 600 yards and tossed 5 touchdowns. Rivers is rolling and should continue against a Raiders defense that has yet to register an interception. I have Rivers coming in as my No.8 QB this week.

QB Rankings

1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Tom Brady
3. Drew Brees
4. Matt Ryan
5. Deshaun Watson
6. Kirk Cousins
7. Carson Palmer
8. Philip Rivers
9. Alex Smith
10. Jameis Winston

11. Matthew Stafford
12. Derek Carr
13. Ben Roethlisberger
14. Trevor Siemian
15. Marcus Mariota

17. Brian Hoyer
18. Josh McCown

My Week 6 Sunday Perfect Lineup

The Weekly Perfect lineup contest is a lot of fun, but usually its always hit and miss and unfortunately I never hit all and usually miss all, Haha. Well here we go with my Perfect Lineup picks for Week 6;

QB- Drew Brees
The trend is always go with good matchups. Maybe the Lions defense has been pretty good this season, but a couple of things here to consider; one Brees is at home, always tough and two, the Lions were just torched by quarterback Cam Newton last week. Whatever deficiencies existing in the secondary, you know Saints quarterback Drew Brees is watching the tape and will look to exploit.

RB-Melvin Gordon
I have Mel G in a couple of leagues, so maybe this is wishful thinking, but Gordon is coming off a great Week 5 game (163 total yards) against a soft run defense and this week he gets the Raiders (ranked 25th against the run). The Chargers ball carrier is the featured back and averaging 18+ touches per game, with a prime matchup on Sunday, only good things.

RB-Todd Gurley
The Rams running back is having a great season, currently the No.2 fantasy RB in PPR. He's the 3rd leading rusher in the league with 405 rushing yards and he has 7 total touchdowns. Gurley gets the Jaguars 31st ranked run defense on Sunday which could mean a big day.

WR-Mike Evans
One of the league’s top talents at the receiver spot, Evans has been quiet the past two weeks and he is currently residing at the No.23 fantasy WR spot in PPR. This week however, Evans will get a crack at a leaky 21st ranked Cardinals pass defense. The Cardinals secondary has also allowed the 5th most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, including 7 touchdowns.

WR-Keenan Allen
Right now Keenan is the No.13 fantasy WR in PPR, he has 28 receptions on 52 targets. I love his volume and believe the efficiency will improve. This week he faces the Raiders 15th ranked pass defense that's allowed the (tied for) 5th most pass plays of 20 yards or more at 16. It was 2 seasons ago (week 7 2015), but the last time Allen faced the Raiders he pulled in 9 passes for 89 yards.

TE-Austin Seferian-Jenkins
The Jets tight end has collected 15 passes in his three games this season. This weeks matchup against the Patriots is a favorable one. The Patriots allow the 4th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends and have surrendered 4 touchdowns.

PK-Justin Tucker
The Ravens offense has struggled mightily this season, limiting Tuckers chances through five weeks. However, last week against the Raiders, Tucker was 3 for 3 with three extra points. The Ravens should be able to move the ball against the Bears, but could have to settle for a couple of chips shots once again. Look for Tucker to turn in another solid Sunday.

Broncos defense
The Broncos defense are ranked number one overall, they are number one against the run, Sunday night is a home game against the Giants. The Giants run game has been non-existent and they've lost two of their three top receivers for the season. I'd say, this one looks pretty good.

Week 6: Four Horsemen + Flex

(Not-so-bold Predictions)

Here were my picks a week ago; I had Carson Palmer under center, his 15.64 fantasy points ranked 12th for week 5. At running back I picked Le'Veon Bell, his 19.30 fantasy points ranked 5th among running backs, at receiver I selected Pierre Garcon with 17.40 fantasy points he ranked 13th at WR, and at tight end I had Hunter Henry with 13.20 fantasy points (ranked 12th in Week 5). My flex selection was Duke Johnson who scored 17.30, good enough for 7th among RBs and finally my defense for week 5 was the Bengals, 9 fantasy points (ranked 8th). Overall not too bad;
Overall grade B+

Here are my Bold Picks for Week 6

Quarterback

The Cardinals will play host to Tampa Bay this week and for quarterback Carson Palmer, he gets the league’s 26th ranked pass defense. The Bucs allow the 5th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and Palmer enters this week 6 matchup with a healthier receiving corp. With a prime matchup this Sunday, Palmer currently the No.12 fantasy QB will look to move up the ranks; 24 of 32 passing for 330 yards and three touchdowns.

Running Back

After a slow Week 5 against the Seahawks, the Rams running back Todd Gurley II looks to rebound with a favorable matchup against the Jaguars. Gurley has been solid this season running the ball and a heavily inolved in the Rams short passing game with 22 receptions and 3 receiving touchdowns. Jacksonville allows the 7th most fantasy points to opposing runners and they've surrendered the 3rd most rushing yards. Gurley is in line for a big day; 95 rushing yards, 4 receptions for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Wide Receiver

The Redskins wide receiver Terrelle Pryor is off to a slow start this season, but he could be on the mend. In week 4 Pryor looked much better getting targeted 5 times and grabbing three balls for 70 yards. He's got a nice matchup against a Niners defense that has allowed the 8th most fantasy points to opposing receivers, including the 4th most receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Pryor should be strong play and a great candidate to find the endzone; 5 receptions, 80 yards receiving, and a touchdown.

Tight End

The Jets roll into Foxboro on Sunday and for tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, this could mean a big day. The Patriots allow the 4th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends and have allowed 4 touchdowns this season. Seferian-Jenkins has remained steadily involved in the Jets passing game with 15 receptions in 3 games and he's coming off his best fantasy scoring game from a week ago; 5 receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Flex

If you are paying attention, then you may be aware of the news that the Cardinals wide receiver John Brown was not listed on the team's injury report. Brown put in a full session on Friday and appears to be his healthiest of the season, just in time for a prime matchup with the Buccaneers on Sunday. The Bucs defense allows the most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers, so this could be the game where Brown breaks out; 5 receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown.

Defense; I am going with the rested Falcons at home. Atlanta typically plays better in the dome and with the Dolphins coming to town, this sets up as a good matchup for the Falcons defense.

That's My Take

Friday’s Fantasy Five

Another exciting Sunday approaches as we are already underway with week 6, following Thursday night’s exciting finish between the Eagles and Panthers. And like the great game we watched Thursday, I am looking for a lot of great and a lot of exciting on Sunday. Here are five things I will be following on Sunday;

#1. The Giants are a mess, time to strike.
Injuries and in-house feuding has the G-men in turmoil. The offense has been decimated with injuries and the defense is a mess with players being suspended. If there was ever a time for the Broncos offense to strike, this Sunday night could be it. Coming off the bye quarterback Trevor Siemian will be looking to kickstart the passing game, while the Jamaal Charles and CJ Anderson will be looking to lead the running game against a 29th ranked Giants run defense.

#2. Steelers Offense needs a Spark.
After a horrid week 5 performance at home against the Jaguars, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the offense are in dire need of a spark. Running back Le’Veon Bell has been anchoring the run game, but what the offense has been missing are the big plays from the passing game. There’s been talk about giving wide receiver Martavis Bryant a break, I don’t buy it. He’s unquestionably your most explosive offensive player, he’s got to be involved this Sunday against the Chiefs. I’ve watched a number of Steelers games this season, and there have been numerous close misses between Big Ben and Martavis. I look for the two to take a number of shots this week and finally dial in a couple for the spark they need.

#3. Watch John Brown on Sunday.
The Cardinals speedy playmaking receiver John Brown has been practicing and getting healthier each week. Last Sunday Brown was targeted 7 times, snagging two balls for 26 yards and a score. Not big numbers in week 5, but his 7 targets equaled the number of targets he saw in week 4. As long as Brown continues to see a steady diet of looks, he’s going to have fantasy value; and this week adds an appetizing matchup against the Buccaneers 26th ranked pass defense.

#4. Deshaun a Stud; It’s Elementary my Dear Watson.
After back-to-back brilliant performances, the Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson is educating the rest of the league as to how good this stud really is. Through five weeks Watson has cemented himself as a Top-10 fantasy QB. With a date against the Browns this Sunday and a defense that allows the 4th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, Watson will once again be putting his theory to the test.

#5. Mack’s time is coming, maybe sooner than later.
Father time has a way of calling when you least expect it and don’t want to listen. While Colts running back Frank Gore has been actively involved in the passing game the past couple of weeks, his rushing numbers have not been impressive; just 151 yards rushing on 51 carries in his last three starts. Rookie running back Marlon Mack had his first breakout game last week totaling 91 yards on 9 carries. The dominant running performance will surely earn him more time on the field and while we’re not ready to retire Gore just yet, you can bet Mack’s time is coming and he should be owned in fantasy leagues.

That's My Take.

What I Learned from Week 5

(Quick Takes)

There’s a Change Coming in Minnesota.
After watching the Vikings game on Monday night and in particular Quarterback Sam Bradford, a change has to be coming. Bradford just didn’t look right from the get go and was eventually replaced by backup Case Keenum. It may have been a temporary change for their week 5 matchup with Chicago, but I believe the more may end up being more permanent. Bradford is obviously not healthy and while the team has not come out with any official announcement, its obvious Monday’s attempt suffered a setback and one that could have Bradford sideline for an extended period (I believe).

The Packers may have found a running game.
While injuries are never good for any team, the injury to Packers running back Ty Montgomery may have come with a silver lining. Since Montgomery went down, the team has had a chance to look at their rookies, in particular running back Aaron Jones. Since he was inserted he’s rushed for over 170 yards and averaged almost 5.5 yards per carry. The Packers have to like what they see and what they’ve found.

Gordon could just be getting started.
The Chargers running back Melvin Gordon broke out with a huge 163 total yards and 2 touchdowns week 5 performance against the Giants. Gordon also averaged 5 yards per carry and added 6 receptions. With a week 6 matchup against the Raiders 25th ranked run defense, Gordon nmght just be getting started.

Ram’s offense struggled, but better days ahead
The Rams offense ran out of gas on Sunday scoring just 10 points after averaging 35.5 points per game through the first four weeks. We'll just chalk this one up to divisional rivalry; both of these teams know each other all too well. Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, and company could be in for a tough matchup this week against Jacksonville, but they'll bounce back with a week 7 matchup against Arizona

Deshaun Watson: "that kid is real good"
We've seen this star shine for several weeks now, so Sunday night should not have come as a surprise. Through five weeks Watson is the No.2 fantasy QB with 12 passing touchdowns (2nd most) and he leads all quarterbacks with 179 yards rushing; that kid is good.

Martin already looks good.
After having to sit out three games due to suspension, in his return to action in Week 5 the Buccaneers running back Doug Martin already looks good. Martin rushed for 74 yards and a score without missing a beat and looks ready to return to his featured back role; time to drop Jacquizz Rodgers.

That's My Take.
