NFL WEEK 1: SUNDAY HEROES

NFL Sunday Week 1 is a wrap with a pretty full slate of games played (13). There were plenty of studs that showed up to help league managers secure their weekly matchup or at least put them in a great position to do so.

While the general consensus would agree across the NFL, most defenses seem to be ahead of the offenses, there were still plenty of fireworks and fantasy studs on Sunday.

Leading the undervalued conversation is the Broncos running back JK Dobbins (8.3% started NFL leagues). While he is owned in the majority of all fantasy leagues, he was not valued Pre-Draft, as a fantasy starter. He led the Broncos backfield in touches on Sunday with 18. His 14.8 PPR fantasy points were good enough for a week 1 Top-20 finish. His numbers weren’t off the charts, but garnering the lions-share of touches puts him in the fantasy starter conversation. For now he appears to be a safe flex.

Speaking of undervalued, the Saints tight end Juwan Johnson (0.8% owned NFL leagues), was not only barely drafted in any NFL fantasy leagues, but he led all tight ends in fantasy scoring for Week 1. Johnson hauled in 8 balls for 76 yards receiving on 11 targets. A key factor to Johnson’s success was his 11 targets, a whopping 24% target share. He’s worthy of a waiver wire grab, especially for those league managers with less than favorable options at the position.

Here’s the Week 1 Honor roll:

Week 1 Sunday’s Heroes

Quarterbacks Top-10
Daniel Jones (IND), 272 yds pass, 1 pass TD, 2 rushing TDs (0.5% owned NFL)
Aaron Rodgers (PIT), 244 yds pass, 4 pass TDs (7.9% owned NFL)
Michael Penix Jr (ATL), 298 yds pass, 1 pass TD, 1 rush TD (7.8% owned NFL)

Running Backs Top-20
Travis Etienne Jr. (JAX), 143 yds rush, 3 catches (88.9% owned NFL)
Dylan Sampson (CLE), 8 catches, 64 yds rec, 29 yds rush (11.9% owned NFL)

Wide Receivers Top-20
Keon Coleman (BUF), 8 catches, 112 yds rec, 1 TD (80.9% owned NFL)
Michael Pittman Jr (IND), 6 catches, 80 yds rec, 1 TD (59.5% owned NFL)
Calvin Austin III (PIT), 4 catches, 70 yds rec, 1 TD (0.5% owned NFL)
Kayshon Boutte (NE), 6 catches, 103 yds rec (0.2% owned NFL)
Cedric Tillman (CLE), 5 catches, 52 yds rec, 1 TD (2% owned NFL)

Tight Ends Top-10

Sunday Morning Gametime

We are a mere two hours until the first NFL Sunday kicks off.

Get your lineups set and submit your DFS plays for week 1.

Today’s plays I like…

I have Baker Mayfield in a few today, even without Godwin and McMillan, he has enough weapons to put up points.

Same game, I am a believer in “The Drake.” With a new quarterback wide receiver Drake London figures to be a focal point in the Falcons air attack. Last season at home London posted a line of 12/154/1.

With rain in the forecast, it figures to be a sloppy mess in New England. I like the Patriots defense at home today.

The Lions secondary allows a lot of yards and catches to opposing receivers, I have the Packers rookie receiver Matthew Golden all over my plays.

With another game looking at less than ideal weather, I have a few Chuba Hubbard plays against a suspect Jaguar run defense from 2024.

That’s My Take.
