Week 10: By the Numbers

The Tight Ends

Get ready for another Kelce Sunday? The Chiefs prolific and future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce has turned it up another notch over the past several weeks. Since week 7, Kelce has been the fantasy TE2, only behind the Buccaneers Cade Otton. His numbers over this stretch among other tight ends, 28 receptions (1st), 33 targets (1st), and 207 yards receiving (4th). While he’s been good, he’s only found the end zone once during this stretch. The Broncos defense has been good this season versus opposing tight ends and have typically contained Kelce - I see a cooling trend on Sunday with Kelce being a long shot to find the end zone.

Week 10: By the Numbers

The Wide Receivers

Mr. Garrett Wilson, the Jets 2nd year receiver has been mister reliable this season. Since week 5, Wilson is the number one fantasy wide receiver with the most receptions, targets, and fantasy points - the second most yards and touchdowns. Wilson has had at least 8 targets and 5 receptions since week 3 and over 90 yards receiving in 4 of his last 5 games. Sunday the Jets face the Cardinals and Wilson will get a shot at a secondary that’s allowed the 6th most receiving yards (651) and 5th most receptions (51) to opposing wide receivers the past 4 weeks. Take the over for receptions and yards on Sunday.

The Falcons travel to New Orleans this week and wide receiver Darnell Mooney figures to be one of Kirk Cousins primary weapons, along with wideout Drake London. Since week 5, Mooney has been the fantasy WR10, one spot behind his teammate London. During this stretch Mooney has racked up 26 catches with 363 yards receiving with 4 touchdown grabs. The Saints will be without one of their top corners on Sunday (Marshon Lattimore traded this week), and while there is no guarantee, Mooney has to be a strong bet to hit pay dirt. I love his chances - That’s my take.

Week 10: By the Numbers

The Running Backs

The Panthers Chuba Hubbard, with a new contract, looks to also cash in on Sunday with a favorable matchup against the G-men. The Panthers running back was rewarded for his sizzling play of late, fantasy RB12 since week 5, rushing for 369 yards on the ground (4.7/carry) with 4 rushing touchdowns. Over the past month (last 4 games) the Giants defense has allowed the 3rd most rushing yards (587) with a per carry average of 5.2 yards. Hubbard should be a safe start this week and a good bet to push north of 80-yards on the ground with a chance to punch one in.

Just missing the TD list, the Bears running back D’Andre Swift has been a Top-5 fantasy running back (RB5) since week 4, totaling over 600 yards of offense (437 rushing, 178 receiving), adding 19 receptions, to go with 4 rushing touchdowns. His usage has seen a significant uptick during this stretch, after averaging 14.3 touches per game the first three weeks of the season, he’s been averaging 21.4 touches his last five games. Sunday he lines up against a Patriots defense that has allowed the 2nd most rushing yards (1,121 yards) this season, at 4.7 yards per attempt. Swift should see plenty of work Sunday and could top the century mark with a score or two.

Week 10: By the Numbers

The Quarterbacks

The Falcons signal caller, Kirk Cousins has cooled off a bit the past couple of weeks, but remains a strong week 10 play this week against a 22nd (fantasy) ranked Saints defense versus opposing quarterbacks (over the past 4 weeks). Cousins has 13 passing touchdowns, while averaging gnarly 300 passing yards per game, while completing 72.2% of his passes over his past 5 games. The Saints are now without cornerback Marshon Lattimore (traded) and will have a long day matching up with Falcons receivers Darnell Mooney and Drake London. This feels like a good Cousins week - start him.

The Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has seen his numbers improving each week over the past month. In the last four weeks, he’s been a Top-15 fantasy quarterback and he’s coming off his best fantasy performance this season in week 9 (w/three touchdown passes). Last week Rodgers' new toy (Davante Adams) finally shined along with his young stud (Garrett Wilson). The two combined for 16 receptions, for 181 yards receiving, and three scores. As they continue to improve, these three will be a nightmare for opposing defenses. A home tilt this Sunday against the Cardinals 22nd ranked fantasy defense versus opposing quarterbacks this season looks promising.

Week 10 Fantasy Football
Late-Waiver Wire Watch

Only owned in about half all fantasy leagues, the Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has been a solid fantasy QB since week 7. In that time he’s been the fantasy QB10 (19.5 fantasy pts/game), tossing 4 touchdowns, while averaging 303 yards passing (per game), including 59 yards rushing - he should be a safe streaming option this week.

Despite the lack of volume the past two weeks, with the return of (Cooper) Kupp and (Puka) Nacua, Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been the biggest beneficiary. His 12 targets in two games have afforded him quality looks, leading to 8 receptions, for 125 yards receiving, including four touchdowns. Robinson is largely available in most fantasy leagues owned less than 20 percent in both ESPN and NFL and should be prioritized as a viable flex option this week, especially in larger league formats.
