THE WEEKLY ROOKIE REPORT CARD

Based on traditional standard scoring rules applied to the numbers from week 6
Here are the 2008 rookies of the NFL!

The grading scale: (A-being a weekly starter and F-being "why did I pick-up this guy?").

(Week 6) The Kids of America...

TOP 25
1. RB-Matt Forte (Overall grade A / 4.000)
The Bears running back continued his productive ways last Sunday. Against a Falcon defense on the road, Forte carried the ball 20 times for 76 yards on the ground. The Bears back added a rushing touchdown to go with 5 catches for 34 yards. (16-FPts)
Grade This Week: A

2. RB-Steve Slaton (Overall grade A- / 3.750 gpa)
The Texans running back was a little off last Sunday being held in check by the Dolphins defense. Slaton saw split action with veteran Ahman Green, only registering 15 carries for 58 yards with just one reception. (5-FPts)
Grade This Week: D+

3. QB-Matt Ryan (Overall grade B+ / 3.505 gpa)
The Falcons rookie passer had a career day on Sunday. Well it was his career day recording his first 300 yard passing game. Ryan completed 22 of 30 passes for 301 yards and a touchdown to lead an exciting come from behind win over the Bears. (18-FPts)
Grade This Week: A+

4. RB-Chris Johnson (Overall grade B / 3.455 gpa)
The Titans featured running back was inactive with the team on a bye.
Grade This Week: no grade

5. RB-Jonathan Stewart (Overall grade C+ / 2.750 gpa)
The Panthers rookie running back struggled to get loose last Sunday against a stiff Tampa defense. Stewart carried the ball only 6 times for just 12 yards rushing and added just one catch for a single yard. (1-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

6. RB-Tim Hightower (Overall grade B- / 2.750 gpa)
The Cardinal's rookie runner was a bit more active in week 6, but was unable to find the end-zone. Hightower carried the ball 7 times for 20 yards and did add 4 catches for a total of 29 yards. (4-FPts)
Grade This Week: D

7. WR-DeSean Jackson (Overall grade C+ / 2.625 gpa)
The ups and downs of D-Jax continued in week 6. Following a dismal week 5 (21 total yards), Jackson rebounded in week 6 with 6 receptions for 98 yards receiving against the Niner's. (9-FPts)
Grade This Week: B-

8. WR-Eddie Royal (Overall grade C+ / 2.475 gpa)
The Bronco's rookie receiver did not play last week due to an ankle injury, but he is expected to return in week 7 and should start.
Grade This Week: no grade

9. RB-Kevin Smith (Overall grade C+ / 2.475 gpa)
The Lions rookie running back didn't see a lot of action last week against the Vikings, but he managed to make the most of the chances he was given. Smith carried the ball just 5 times, but ran for 62 yards. He also had 2 catches for 11 yards. (7-FPts)
Grade This Week: C

10. RB-Felix Jones (Overall grade B- / 2.375 gpa)
The Cowboys running back was not particularly active last Sunday with only 3 touches on the day. Jones carried the ball just three time for 22 yards before leaving the game with an injury. (2-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

11. WR-Donnie Avery (Overall grade C / 2.250 gpa)
The Rams receiver displayed some of that speed the team had hoped to see when they drafted the former Cougar from the University of Houston. Avery blazed his way through the Redskin's secondary for 73 receiving yards last Sunday, including a 43 yard pass play. (7-FPts)
Grade This Week: C

12. RB-Darren McFadden (Overall grade C / 2.050 gpa)
The Raider's rookie running back returned to the field of action last Sunday, but didn't make much noise. McFadden carried the ball just 8 times and finished the day with only 30 yards rushing. (3-FPts)
Grade This Week: D-

13. QB-Joe Flacco (Overall grade C- / 1.750 gpa)
The Ravens rookie quarterback has hit some hard times of late. Last Sunday Flacco was sacked four times and turned to ball over three times, finishing the day with 241 pass yards and no touchdowns. (4-FPts)
Grade This Week: D

14. TE-Dustin Keller (Overall grade D+ / 1.675 gpa)
The Jets rookie tight was basically a no-show in week 6. Keller was held without a catch on the day and was not targeted much all afternoon. If you don't have a "C" in your name (Coles, Cotchery, Chansi) you're probably not going to see many balls. (0-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

15. TE-John Carlson (Overall grade D+ / 1.600 gpa)
The Seahawks rookie tight end did not have too many chances last Sunday, but he did manage to find the end-zone. With so many injuries to the Seahawks receivers Carlson has emerged as the team's leading receiver with 16 receptions this season. In week 6 he caught 4 passes for 22 yards. (2-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

16. WR-Jordy Nelson (Overall grade D- / 1.050 gpa)
The Packers rookie receiver seems to be stepping into the role of number three with James Jones sidelined. Nelson caught 4 passes for 42 yards last Sunday against Seahawks. (4-FPts)
Grade This Week: D

17. WR-Mike Tolbert (Overall grade D- / 0.900 gpa)
The Chargers rookie full back saw little activity in the running game last week against the Patriots, but he did get five carries for 15 yards. Tolbert is not likely to have any fantasy option appeal. (1-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

18. RB-Kregg Lumpkin (No final grade / Placed on IR)
The Packers running back Kregg Lumpkin has not been active much fighting injuries and was finally placed on the Injured reserve ending his season.
Grade This Week: no grade

19. RB-Ray Rice (Overall grade D- / .850 gpa)
With McGahee exiting early with an undisclosed injury, the Ravens rookie saw a opportunity to see extended action. Rice ran the ball 6 times for 23 yards and recorded 7 catches for 64 yards. (8-FPts)
Grade This Week: C+

20. WR-Harry Douglas (Overall grade F / 0.425 gpa)
The Falcons rookie wide out had a productive Sunday last week against the Bears. Douglas caught 5 passes for 96 yards (19.2 yds/reception) and ran the ball once for an 11 yard loss. (8-FPts)
Grade This Week: C+

21. WR-James Hardy (Overall grade F / 0.500 gpa)
The Bills wide receiver was inactive with the team on a bye.
Grade This Week: no grade

22. TE-Tom Santi (Overall grade F / 0.400 gpa)
The Colts rookie tight end was not involved much in the passing game in week 6. With a lot of the attention going to the receivers, Santi did not see any targets on Sunday. With Manning and Harrison looking like their old selves, Santi is not likely to see too many balls going forward. (0-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

23. RB-Jamaal Charles (Overall grade F / 0.350 gpa)
With LJ on the sideline this week, the Chiefs rookie will look to build off his week 6 performance. Charles had only 4 carries for 18 yards and caught 4 passes for 22 yards. (3-FPts)
Grade This Week: D-

24. WR-Syndric Steptoe (Overall grade F / 0.250 gpa)
The former Wildcat out of Arizona, did not see many targets Monday night in the Brown's big win over the Giants. Steptoe caught one pass for 20 yards. For the year Steptoe has a total of 8 catches for 78 yards. (2-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

25. WR-Early Doucet (Overall grade F / .250 gpa)
After a week where he caught 6 passes, the Cardinal's rookie receiver was pretty much non-existence in week 5 against the Cowboys. Doucet managed just one catch for 3 yards. (0-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

Missed the Cut...
These rookies have either not seen enough action to be ranked or have not gotten involved with their respective offenses enough to produce sufficient numbers. With Bryant Johnson hobbling in Frisco, Morgan could soon move up. Bess and Bennett are not likely to see their situations change anytime soon, but check back every week to see how they score or if their grades improve!

WR-Josh Morgan
The Niner's rookie receiver saw a few targets last week and could see many more going forward. In week 6 Morgan caught just one pass for 25 yards against the Eagles defense. There is word he could soon be challenging for playing time as a starter. (2-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

WR-Davone Bess
The Dolphin's rookie receiver has seen little action this season. Against the Texans in week 6, Bess only caught one pass for 10 yards. With the Dolphins ball control offense and Pennington's small arm, it's highly unlikely that Bess will see any relevant action soon. (1-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

TE-Martellus Bennett
The Cowboys rookie tight end disappeared last week in the team's passing game. Bennett saw no balls on Sunday and finished with no catches. Going forward, as long as he is playing behind Witten he will continue to see days like these. (0-FPts)
Grade This Week: F

Newest relevant Classmates making fantasy noise...
**The Bronco's rookie running back Ryan Torain resumed practicing with the team and could be just a few short weeks away from seeing his first NFL action. Word is Torain will have a chance to compete for the starting gig.

**The Cowboy's rookie runner Tashard Choice will be elevated into action behind starter Marion Barber with Felix Jones sidelined. Choice has not see much action, but should fill in fine as the back-up.

These are my grades for the week, check back next week, when I will update The Rookie Report Card!

FSH: FANTASY FOOTBALL FIRE & ICE REPORT

October 18th, 2008 1:37pm PST

[Saturday Edition]
WEEK 7 FANTASY FOOTBALL
THE FIRE & ICE REPORT
[By the Numbers]

MUCHOS EN FUEGO

Your weekly players on Fire...
With week 6 complete, fantasy owners continue to look for the information that will help them make those critical line up decisions from week to week. If you are owning players like QB Drew Brees, WR Greg Jennings, and WR Larry Fitzgerald, you are benefiting from their high caliber consistent fantasy scoring. Always the concern for fantasy owners every week, what players are doing what? Who are the players that are "Hot" and which ones are those that are struggling? Did you know that QB Tony Romo has thrown 3 touchdowns in each of his last three games and that RB Clinton Portis has ran for over 120 yards in his last three?

If you need help finding out who are the strong plays each week, here's the latest numbers for fantasy owners to swallow; some of the hottest fantasy players through week 6...

Matt Schaub QB...in his last two starts, the Texans quarterback has been one of the leagues tops passers, completing 51 of 82 passes (62% completion) for 686 yards (343 yds/game) with four touchdowns. In the two games Schaub has scored 56 fantasy points.

Kyle Orton QB...the Bears quarterback has rarely been the subject of fantasy prowess, but over his past three starts Orton has passed for 819 yards (273 yds/game) completing 68 of 111 passes (61% completion) with 6 touchdowns in that span. In his last three games the Bears QB is averaging 20 fantasy points.

Andre Johnson WR...in his last two starts no receiver has been better than Andre. Johnson has caught 19 passes for 309 yards (16.2 yds/reception) with two touchdowns for an average of 20 fantasy points in the two weeks.

Bernard Berrian WR...suddenly the Vikings wide receiver has transformed into the explosive wide out the team traded for. In his last two games Berrian has caught 11 passes for 241 yards (22 yds/catch) with two scores. He is averaging 18 fantasy points in the two games.

Roddy White WR...the Falcons dynamic receiver has evolved into one of the leagues elite and every week he continues to post strong numbers. In White's last four games he has snagged 29 passes for 453 yards (113 yds/game) with 3 scores. He is averaging 15.5 fantasy points per game.

Kurt Warner QB...can anyone believe the level of play this 37 year old is exhibiting. In his last three start Warner has been automatic passing for 958 yards completing 95 of 129 passes (73.6% completion) and throwing 6 touchdowns in that span. In his last three Warner has scored 58 fantasy points.

Matt Forte RB...the Bears running back has been the workhorse in the windy city getting it done week in and week out. In his last two start Forte has carried the ball 35 times for 112 yards on the ground, while catching 9 passes for another 59 yards with three scores (2 rush, 1 receive). In those two start he has scored 33 fantasy points.

Correll Buckhalter RB...the Eagles running back has been a solid insert in the absence of running back Brian Westbrook. If you recall Buckhalter was the starter prior to the arrival of Westbrook and he's showing why. In his two starts Buckhalter has averaged more than 21 touches per game and has scored 37 fantasy points.

Flying near the Sun...
Here are the latest players warming up and getting ready to catch fire; these are some fantasy options that could be considered serviceable bye week fill ins and solid flex options...

Brandon Jacobs RB...the Giants monster running back rarely sees a lot of carries these days, but it seems it does not take much for Jacobs to do his damage. In his last three games Jacobs is averaging only 14 carries per game, but is scoring an average of 15 fantasy points per game.

Ronnie Brown RB....the Dolphins running back has been Mr. Everything for his team, running, catching, and passing. In his last three games Brown has totaled more than 340 yards of offense and has scored 6 rushing touchdowns. In his last three games, Brown has scored 42, 18, and 15 fantasy points.

Steve Smith WR....the Panther's receiver has been the model of consistency catching 6 passes in each of his last three games. Smith has totaled 304 yards receiving in his last three and is averaging 11.6 fantasy points per game.

Chad Pennington QB...the Dolphins have found stability at the quarterback position with Pennington. Chad completed 19 of 25 passes (76% completion) for 284 yards with two touchdowns and a pick.

Matt Ryan QB...suddenly the rookie in Atlanta is becoming more fantasy relevant, passing for over 300 yards last Sunday in a big come from behind win over the Bears. Ryan completed 22 of 30 passes and added a touchdown toss.

Warmin in the Oven...
Last week we saw a few of the "oldies but goodies" making noise with the resurrection of the Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison connecting on two scores and the Buccaneers small package of dynamite in Warrick Dunn, running for 115 yards against the Panthers. In Minnesota, running back Adrian Peterson got back on the horse with 111 yards rushing against the Lions, while both Bronco's RB Michael Pittman and Giant's RB Derrick Ward took advantage of extended playing time to rush for more than 100 yards each. The Chargers offense found it's spark in the arm of Phillip Rivers who passed for over 300 yards with three touchdowns in a Sunday night blowout.

Here are the more of the "Firemen" recruits who played very well and are looking to keep your fantasy plates (lineups) warm!

**Derek Anderson QB....the Brown's quarterback came to life passing for 310 yards completing 18 of 29 passes with two scores Monday night in a big win over the G-men!
**Gus Frerotte QB....the Vikings quarterback has finally breathed life into the passing game, completing 18 of 33 passes for 296 yards passing with a touchdown!
**Reggie Bush RB....the Saints running back is not racking up the yards (69 total in week 6), but is making the most scoring twice last Sunday against the Raiders!
**Frank Gore RB....the Niners running back was solid in week 6, rushing for 101 yards in the team's loss to the Eagles. Gore carried the ball 19 times and added 3 receptions for 16 yards and had one rushing touchdown.
**Dominique Rhodes RB....the Colts replacement for injured Addai was solid last Sunday. Rhodes carried the ball 25 times for 73 yards with a rushing touchdown
**Braylen Edwards WR....the Browns receiver turned in his best game of the season in week 6. Edwards caught 5 passes for 154 yards (30.8 yds/reception) with a score Monday night.
**Vincent Jackson WR....the Chargers wide out was huge Sunday night in the team's big win over the Patriots. Jackson finished with 5 receptions for 134 yards receiving with a touchdown.
**Patrick Cobbs RB....the Dolphins running back was big last Sunday with 3 catches for 138 yards and two scores. He's more of an honorable mention this week, because he plays behind Williams and Brown fantasy owners shouldn't get too excited over his performance.
**Steve Breaston WR....the Cardinal's number three receivers' days as a starter may be numbered, but he's making the most of the opportunity. Last Sunday Breaston was featured in the passing game catching 8 passes for 102 yards and a score!
**Ricky Williams RB....the Dolphin's running back scored his first rushing touchdown of the season last Sunday. Williams finished with 11 carries for 46 yards on the ground.
**Calvin Johnson WR....the Lions receiver bounced back from a slow week 5 performance. Johnson caught 4 passes for 85 with a score last Sunday against the Vikings.
**Malcom Floyd WR....the Chargers receiver got a chance to play and contribute. Floyd caught 3 passes for 75 yards (25 yds/catch) and scored once in the team's win over New England.

IN A DEEP FREEZE

The Icemen cometh...
Every week fantasy owners have players on their rosters that are gamers and manage to get it done every week, then there are those players you would just soon forget. These are the players that give owners a big migraine and each week seem to just be taking up space on your roster. The Icemen as they are known and unfortunately for every fantasy owner, they still cometh.

Javon Walker WR....it appears time for fantasy owners to part ways with the Raiders receiver. With an inconsistent passing game and just 5 catches on the season, Walker appears to be headed for the bench in Oakland.

Robert Meachum WR....the Saints receiver seems to have become the forgotten man in the French quarter. Meachum was expected to be a huge factor in the Saints passing game, but just 2 catches in his last two games have him heading the wrong direction as a fantasy option.

Laurence Maroney RB.....the Patriot's running back seems to be running backward these days more than anything. Maroney did not play last Sunday and does not look likely to play this week. No official word has been made, but Maroney's season is starting look more like it's over than anything else.

Anthony Fasano TE....the Dolphins tight end seemed like the flavor one week, but lately he's been leaving a bad taste in fantasy owner's mouths. Just three catches in week 5, followed by one catch last Sunday, make Fasano somewhat of a risky play each week.

Andre Hall RB....with the Bronco's Michael Pittman running well, Hall did not see anytime in week 6 and with the prospects of Ryan Torain joining the mix soon, Hall is looking more and more like the odd man out.

Marc Bulger QB....the Rams quarterback has yet to pass for more than 200 yards in any game this season and has only thrown 2 touchdowns this season. Last Sunday Bulger passed for only 136 yards with no touchdowns.

M.I.A (Missing in Action)....
Easy come, easy go, and just when they look ready to fly some fantasy players from time to time can simply just disappear. Here's a list of a few of the Firemen whose flames were smothered in week 6!

**Jason Campbell QB...the Redskins quarterback has not been much of a fantasy stud this season, but 208 yards passing, no touchdowns and a fumble scored him only 6 fantasy points for week 6. (6-FPTs)
**JT O'Sullivan QB....the Niners quarterback has suddenly disappeared as a fantasy option, passing for 199 yards with two picks and a fumble last Sunday finishing with just four fantasy point. (4-FPTs)
**Jamarcus Russell QB.....the Raiders quarterback has hardly been an appealing fantasy option this season. Last Sunday against the Saints Russell passed for only 159 yards, but had two turnovers finishing with 3 fantasy points for the day. (3-FPTs)
**DeAngelo Williams RB....the Panthers running back epitomizes hot and cold, following a solid week 5. William finished last Sunday with just 27 yards rushing and 8 yards receiving. (2-FPTs)
**Michael Turner RB....the Falcons running back and the NFL's 2nd leading rushed was relatively quiet in week 6 finishing with 25 carries for just 54 yards on the ground. (5 fantasy points)
**Terrell Owens WR....the Cowboy's prima-donna receiver TO, was a non-factor last Sunday catching only 4 passes for just 36 yards receiving. A surprise visitor to this department, fantasy owners should expect to see him vacate soon.
**Roy Williams WR....the Cowboy's newest addition left the Michigan area quietly last Sunday, catching only two passes for 23 yards. In a new home, on a big stage now, fantasy owners shouldn't expect to find Roy here next week.
**Dallas Clark TE....the Colts tight end played second fiddle to the team's receiver. Clark finished with just 2 catches, while the Colts receiver's combined for 15 catches. (1 fantasy point)

**all scoring averages based on traditional leagues standard scoring.

Check back again every week for more from the "Fantasy Football Fire & Ice Report."

FSH: NFL WEEKLY ROUND-UP (Wk 7)

October 17th, 2008 8:47pm PST

NFL NEWS...
FRIDAY'S HEADLINES

**Parker OUT for Sunday?...
....the Steelers running back Willie Parker did not practice for the third straight day and is now listed as doubtful for Sunday against the Bengals. It is highly unlikely that Parker will play, meaning MeWelde Moore would start in his place. Moore turned in a solid performance in week five playing for Parker. This week is a good matchup for either Steeler running back, so we'd suggest plugging Moore in this week, if you can grab him.

**Romo/Johnson, both still in limbo...
....the Cowboy's high profile quarterback was more of a spectator on Friday and did not participate in practice. While Johnson took all the snaps with the first team, rumors still circulate that we could see Romo on the field Sunday. It is hard to gauge as to whether Romo will start or not, but it is likely he will be active, making Johnson now a risky play.

**Portis questionable for Sunday?...
....the Redskins running back was able to fully participate in practice on Friday and is expected to play. Fantasy owners should be safe starting one of the leagues top runners this season.

**Winslow back on the field, could play...
....the Brown's tight end was able to return to practice on a limited basis Friday. Winslow was quoted as saying he's "back, and good to go." His illness that had him sidelined last Sunday, has yet to be disclosed, but it appears he's healthy enough to be in your fantasy lineup in week 7.

**Harris declared OUT for Sunday...
....the Packers defensive back Al Harris was back in practice on a limited basis this week, but will not play Sunday. Harris has been out since Sept 21st, but appears close to returning. With all the injuries the Packers have in the secondary, it would be wise for fantasy owners to pass on the Green Bay defense this week against the Colts.

**Lloyd will miss Sunday's game...
....the Bears receiver is still battling a knee injury and has been ruled out for Week 7. Brandon Lloyd has now been sidelined for several weeks with the knee injury. With Lloyd out the Bears wide out Rashied Davis should see more targets this week and could be a nice WR3 play.

FSH: THE FANTASY E.R. (EYEBROW RAISERS)

October 16th, 2008 10:55pm PST

THE FANTASY E.R.

Week Six Surprises & "Eyebrow Raisers"

Once again we take a look at those "Eyebrow Raising" "Game-changing" and "hair standing on the back of your neck" weekly performances from some of those players that from week to week can slip by even the most adept and savvy football experts. If you have a team that is not quite championship caliber, take note because some of these boys QB Matt Ryan, RB-Maurice Jones-Drew, and WR-Bernard Berrian could be just what the doctor ordered.

If you are still finding yourself spending time each week "Searching the scrap heaps" hoping to find an answer to a prayer, a dream come true or a Mr. Fantasy Right, looking ahead, here were your week 6 surprise performances from those not-quite-ready for "Prime-Time" Fantasy Players.

QB-PEYTON MANNING (IND)
Probably the biggest surprise here, is seeing Peyton Manning's name included in this list. Well if you followed the talk leading up to week 6, they nay-sayers were out again having their way and frankly no one in so-called "fantasy experts circle" expected to see Manning rebound as he did. In Sunday's blowout win over the Ravens. Manning was his old self, completing 19 of 28 passes (68% completion) for 271 yards and three touchdowns. (28-FPTs)

QB-MATT RYAN (ATL)
The Falcon's rookie has been safe and steady for the most part this season, but last Sunday against the Bears Ryan came up big. The Falcon's quarterback had his biggest game passing this season and recorded his first 300 yard passing game in the dramatic come from behind win over Chicago. For the game, Ryan finished with 22 of 30 passing (73% completion) for 301 yards passing and a touchdown! (18-FPTs)

RB-PATRICK COBBS (MIA)
The Dolphins third down running back, if you want to call him that, had his most productive day as a Dolphin receiver on Sunday in the team's loss to the Texans.Cobbs in his third season, had only 2 receptions for his career when the season began. On Sunday Cobbs caught 3 passes for 138 yards and scored twice, including a spectacular 80 yard catch and run! (25-FPTs)

RB-THOMAS JONES (NYJ)
The Jets veteran running back had been relatively quiet this season heading into the team's week 6 matchup with the Bengal's. Last Sunday all of that changed in a big way as Jones was the featured player on offense scoring three times, 2 rushing and 1 receiving. Jones finished the day with 17 carries for 65 rushing yards and added 3 catches for 13 yards to go with his three scores! (25-FPTs)

RB-CORRELL BUCKHALTER (PHI)
The Eagles running back did his best impersonation of Brian Westbrook on Sunday, in the team's win over the Niners. Much like his injured colleague, Buckhalter was very Westbrook-like carrying the ball 18 times for 93 yards, catching 7 passes for 85 yards with a rushing touchdown. His performance was also monster in PPR leagues! (23-FPTs)

WR-MARVIN HARRISON (IND)
Well you just knew for Manning to find his legs, it would take his old favorite needing to find his. A lot of critics were very down on Marvelous Marvin Harrison leading up to Week 6. Even if some continue to think that Marvin was not Marvin of old, but just old, he ran much better than we have seen and played big like we are used to seeing. Harrison caught 3 passes for 83 yards and two scores in the Colts blowout win over the Ravens. (20-FPTs)

WR-BERNARD BERRIAN (MIN)
It appears the Vikings have themselves a playmaker in town and his name is Berrian. The Vikes receiver has been heating up the last two weeks and Sunday was just a sample of what the team's hoping to see more of. Berrian caught 5 passes for 131 yards receiving and scored on an 86 yard catch and run for a score! (19-FPTs)

WR-STEVEN BREASTON (ARI)
The Cardinal's relief pitcher, or receiver has been admirable filling in for the injured Anquan Boldin. Last Sunday against the Cowboys, Breaston was huge in the team's upset win over the Cowboys. Breaston caught 8 passes for 102 yards receiving and score a touchdown. (16-FPTs)

RB-MAURICE JONES DREW (JAX)
The Jaguars shifty running back, ran roughshod all over the Bronco's defense in week 6. Mojo had one of his best days running as a professional carrying the ball 22 times for 125 yards (5.6 yds/carry) on the ground, while scoring 2 rushing touchdowns. Jones-Drew also added 2 catches for 23 yards. (26-FPTs)

More notable surprises from some fantasy "Hidden-Jewels"

**The Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington has not had big passing days this season, but against the Texans last Sunday he was solid. Pennington completed 19 of 25 passes for 284 yards with 2 touchdowns and a pick. (21-FPts)

**The Bears quarterback Kyle Orton continues to be a fantasy surprise. In week 6 the Bears QB passed for 286 yards and threw one touchdown with no interceptions. (17-FPTs)

**Surprisingly the Bengal's quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was a noted fantasy play last Sunday. Fitzpatrick did not have a big passing day, but his 152 yards passing with his 23 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown earned him 14 fantasy points! (14-FPTs)

**The Buccaneers veteran running back Warrick Dunn saw extended action on Sunday against the Panthers. Dunn carried the ball 22 times for 115 yards on the ground to go with 3 receptions and 18 yards. (12-FPTs)

**The Broncos running back Michael Pittman, making his first start this season was solid play in week 6. Pittman rushed for 109 yards and caught 3 passes for 16 yards. (11-FPTs)

**The Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter quietly turned in another productive fantasy day, finishing with 4 catches for 98 yards in the Texan's dramatic win over Miami. (9-FPTs)

**The Saints TE Mark Campbell had a nice fantasy scoring day, pulling in 3 passes for 37 yards and with a touchdown, but it should be noted with Shockey de to return, Campbell's days of production will be limited. (9-FPTs)

**The Broncos slot receiver Brandon Stokley continued his good play as a flex option catching only 3 passes for 29 yards, but with a touchdown for his second straight week. (8-FPts)

**The Bears wide receiver and kick return specialist Devin Hester has quickly evolved into a reliable pass receiving option for the Bears passing attack. Last Sunday Hester pulled in 6 passes for 87 yards in the team's stunning loss to the Falcons. (8-FPTs)

**noted scoring based on standard rules.

NOISE-SHAKERS! PLAY-MAKERS! GAME-BREAKERS!

D-Mac running at full-speed...
....the Raiders running back has shed the walking boot, is practicing in full, and is not on the team's injury report. It looks like this rookie is ready to roll. Fantasy owners that dealt away this kid, could be kicking themselves. With McFadden having not done much over the past several weeks, some owners may be looking at him with lesser value. Now is the time to take advantage and strike fast. D-mac is the more appealing run option in the Raider's backfiled and with the team coming close to trading RB Michael Bush, McFadden has to be the favorite in the 2nd half of the season. We've already seen that McFadden has the capabilty of running big, if he's out there available or being offered, grab him!

Johnson ruled out for Week 7...
....the Kansas City Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards announced that running back Larry Johnson would be deactivated this Sunday against the Titans for violating unspecified team rules. In the midst of all of LJ's legal troubles off the field at the moment, Edwards did offer that this move was unrelated. This has to become a very unnerving situation for fantasy owners, who are already down on LJ with his heroic 2 yard performance two weeks ago. The Chiefs appear to be in full-rebuild mode, and it's becoming terrible difficult to read where exactly LJ will fit in. Moving forward in light of all circumstances, LJ now becomes a high risk play and should be valued no higher than a mid RB3, until the situation in KC changes.

Chances of Romo playing Sunday improving...
....there not a lot being said either way of Romo's chances of playing this week, other than there is a chance which is more than what was initially reported earlier this week. Romo has thrown on the side during pracitce for two days now and reports are he has looked good. Romo was limited in practice Thursday, taking snaps from the shotgun only. For the moment his status appears to be clearly up in the air. Fantasy owners will have to wait until Friday or possibly game time for a decision to be made.

Winslow with team, still not cleared...
....the Brown's tight end rejoined the team on Thursday, but has yet to be cleared to return to practice. It is highly doubtful Winslow will be available in to play this Sunday against the Redskins. If you own Winslow, look to pick up his back up Steve Heiden (5 catches 59 yards Monday night) this week, who could serve as a good fill-in, until Winslow III can return to playing.

Shockey expected to return this week....
....the Saints tight end has practiced 2 straight days and according to head coach Sean Payton it was "a good sign" for Shockey's chances of playing Sunday. The tight end has been out several weeks recovering from a groin injury, but appears to be a safe bet to start this Week against the Panthers. Fantasy owners should keep an eye out to see if Shockey practices Friday and how he does. If he has not setbacks, he a certainty to start and should be a good top 10 TE play this week for fantasy owners.

Wallace expected to start, if healthy....
....the word is quarterback Seneca Wallace, if healthy would get the nod at starting this Sunday for the Seahawks. While both Frye and Wallace were expected to split reps this week, on Thursday Wallace practiced with the first team exclusively. If Wallace does start, he's hardly an appealing waiver option and pretty much not worthy of any roster spots this week. With the offense really struggling this season, with Deion Branch likely out, and a poor matchup against the Bucs, only desperate housewives should even be considering this pick up.

Jarrett number three in Carolina...
....it looks like the door is wide open for the Panther's wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett to contribute to the team's passing game in week 7. With Muhammad likely to see Saints corner Mike McKenzie, Jarrett could see some favorable matchups and a few extra throws his way on Sunday. Panthers WR DJ Hackett has been unsuccessful staying healthy this season, giving Jarrett this opportunity. Steve Smith is likely the only appealing receivng option in Carolina this week, but keep an eye on Jarrett who could start seeing more time on the field week-to-week.

NOISE-SHAKERS! PLAY-MAKERS! GAME-BREAKERS!

Addai could miss up to 4 weeks...
....the word is Addai has a torn hamstring and could miss up to 2-4 weeks, bet on the four weeks with the injury involving the hammy. Rhodes took the reigns last Sunday when Addai went down and was a strong fill in with 73 yards and a touchdown. With Addai out, Rhodes will be the interim starter making him a strong flex option and high-end RB3 to low-end RB2 at least while he's starting. Fantasy owners looking for the needed help at running back would be advised to snatch Rhodes as soon as possible.

Galloway could return Sunday...
....Galloway practiced Wednesday, but was limited. It's looking more and more like Galloway has a real good shot to play, but speculation is he may only play in a limited role. Fantasy owners would be advised to hold off starting Joey so soon, but rather wait to see how he does before starting.

Pittman could remain starter...
....at least for the moment, according to head coach Mike Shanahan, Pittman did "everything you want a guy to do" and took advantage of his opportunity. With Young still limited, Pittman would appear to have the inside track to start in week 7 on Monday night. Start or not, Pittman remains a strong flex option and a high end RB3 play this week against the Patriots.

McDonald expected to start in Detroit...
....according to the Detroit Free Press, it appears the WR Shaun McDonald will start along side with Calvin Johnson. With the departure of Roy Williams, Megatron now becomes the undisputed number one receiver in Detroit (he has been since the season started). With the impressive play of QB Dan Orlovsky, Johnson will likely remain the only legitimate fantasy play in the Michigan area. McDonald, with his 11 catches is hardly worth a roster spot right now, until he shows he has any value. Fantasy owners are advised to not get "too excited," but rather wait and see.

Chambers to return against Bills....
....it sounds like Chambers will be available and ready to go in Week 7 against the Bills, although he was held out of practice Wednesday. While Chambers does not have a truck load of catches this season, he seems to be the Chargers most consistent deep threat and big playmaker with 5 touchdowns this season. He'll face a tough road matchup against the Bills on Sunday, but if he plays he's always got a chance to score!

Parker questionable for Week 7...
....the Steelers running back had three weeks to rest and get well, but it now looks like he has re-aggravated the knee injury that had him sidelined. Parker was held out of practice on Wednesday and is in serious doubt to make his return Sunday against the Bengal's. It's now looking like back up Mewelde Moore has a chance to take the reigns again and could be a solid RB2 play this week.

Romo has a chance to play in Week 7...
....reports are now coming out that Tony Romo did some throwing during Wednesday's practice and informed the team that he can and is willing to play with the broken pinkie, according to ESPN's Matt Mosley. It sounds like the Cowboys may just sit Romo this week, since they are facing the Rams, but could consider bringing him back much sooner. If Romo feels comfortable making throws with good velocity (which was reported), it certainly sounds like the Cowboys high profile gunslinger will be back sooner than what was reported.

Branch misses practice Wednesday...
....the Seahawks receiver was not available to practice Wednesday. Branch has been sidelined with a heel injury and the team is not shedding any light on his status for week 7. The prognosis for Branch playing in week 7 does not appear good and owners should consider other options until they hear more on his status.

Royal back at practice this week...
....the Broncos rookie receiver returned to full practice this week and figures to be back in the line up Monday night. Royal's return this week, figures to cut into any attention WR Brandon Stokley would see (if he's available to play against the Patriots) and would limit his value even at a WR3. Stokley is banged up recovering from his 10th concussion, so it's likely that the Bronco's could take their time bringing him back with Darrell Jackson now available and Royal Healthy.

FSH: WEEK 7 PLAYERS ON THE MOVE

October 15th, 2008 11:07pm PST

Players On The Move
(WEEK 7 WAIVER WIRE)

Six weeks down and we move closer to the mid-point of the season for most fantasy leagues. So where do you stack up with the competition? If you been hammered by the injury bug and once again are stuck in search mode endlessly looking for the help you so desperately need, look no further.

Week 6 in the NFL proved to be yet another weekend of great matchups with fantastic finishes and not just notable, but great performances from some of our fantasy favorites! For those owners seeking a title or hungry for a win, let's take a look at what's being served for week 7 as we take a look at "Players on the Move."

Willy Wants Ya (Weekly)"Golden Ticket"

This week's Tickets...

RB-Dominic Rhodes (Ind)....with the Colts running back Joseph Addai's health a question mark, Rhodes could be a nice pick up and fill in this week. Replacing the injured Addai, Rhodes was a solid fill-in with 25 carries for 73 yards rushing and a score. Rhodes is a good compliment to Addai and fits the Colts system well. Check the news wires for updates on Addai, if he's out Rhodes is a solid play in week 7.

WR-Steve Smith (NYG)....welcome to the NFL Mr. Smith. The Giants number three receiver has been mentioned before as a notable stash off the waiver wire. With a chance to play, the former Trojan was big on Monday night. Plaxico Burress is the definitive number one in New York, but fantasy owners should note following his performance Monday night, you could argue that Smith could be moving in on Toomer's number two role. We don't see Smith necessarily threatening Toomer's starting gig, but it does look like Eli will be looking Smith's way more often.

WR-Devin Hester (Chi)....with the name Kyle Orton not raising hairs on the back of fantasy owners' necks these days, the Bears have discovered a hidden talent that they are just beginning to uncover. The steady play of Orton has allowed wide receiver and kick return specialist to become a more reliable receiving option. In his past two games, Hester has been the Bears top pass catcher with 11 receptions for 153 yards. As Orton continues to play well, Hester will keep making plays. While he's only a mid to high WR3, he does have appeal as a strong flex option!

more "Boys on the Move"...

If you're still needing to fill those few holes, here are a couple of reliable options that could stop the bleeding, ease the pain, or at least provide some much needed relief...

Matt Ryan QB (Atl)-....the kid in Atlanta seems to be growing up fast. In week 6 against a Bear's defense that can put a lot of pressure on the quarterback, Ryan was flawless. The rookie completed 22 of 30 passes (73.3% completion) on his way to 301 yards passing (his first 300 yard passing game). Ryan is still only a mid QB2 at best, but he can offer some relief (with good matchups, check schedule) for those owners that were stuck with Kitna, Palmer, or Garcia.

Kevin Walter WR (Hou)-....the Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson has made so much noise the past two weeks, fantasy owners may not have noticed receiver Kevin Walter's 4 catches for 98 yards. Granted that Walter is only a low end WR3 option in most leagues, he does have some upside. Playing along side with Andre, Walter is capable of having big games, just two weeks ago Walter scored twice against the Jaguars.

Bobby Wade WR (Min)-....the Vikings receiver is quietly becoming a steady receiving option in Minnesota. Over his last three games, Wade has collected 19 passes for 210 yards. Even though these are not prolific numbers, they are consistent. With Berrian and Frerotte emerging as a high-profile connect, Wade has a chance to see more single coverage and better matchups!. He's a steady WR3, but can offer fantasy owners a solid bye week fill-in or possible flex option is some leagues.

"Diamond in the Rough"

When you can't find what you need, you just need to dig a little deeper. Here are those hard to find "Hidden Jewels" that have been overlooked or passed over, but could be on the brink of making some fantasy noise.

Your Week 7 Deep Sleepers...

Harry Douglas-WR (Atl).....the Falcons rookie receiver is quickly emerging as a reliable number two wideout in Atlanta. With WR Michael Jenkins still a no show in the fantasy world, Douglas has seized the moment and it could be just a matter of time before he becomes more involved the Falcons passing game. In week 6 Douglas was targeted 7 times and grabbed 5 passes for 96 yards. With Roddy White suddenly emerging as one of the leagues elite pass catchers, the rookie could see many more targets and more production.

Darren McFadden-RB (Oak)....the word from the Raider Nation is rookie running back Darren McFadden has shed the walking boot he usually sports every Monday, a good sign the kid could be nearing good health. McFadden was spectacular back in week two before his toe injury, when he rushed for 164 yards against the Chiefs. With his injury status improving, he could have a chance at competing for the top spot in Oakland. Fantasy owners looking for needed depth, may want to make a move now before the secret lets out.

Sammy Morris-RB (NE).....the Patriots are having all kinds of trouble in their backfield these days with Laurence Maroney and LaMont Jordan both injured. The team has had to turn to third down back Kevin Faulk and RB Sammy Morris to carry the load. With Maroney's health in question, it is likely that Morris would get the start in his place. While nothing more has been made of Maroney's current injury status, just speculating here if he should go down for an extended period Morris could be a nice RB3 or flex option pick-up going forward.

"Lying in wait" under watchful eyes...

...through week 6, these are the players, that are still not considered to be reliable weekly options, but fantasy owners should be keeping an eye on them as their situations could suddenly change making them relevant and worthy of a roster spot!

Running Backs

Ryan Torain RB (Den)...the Bronco's running back will return to practice this week, although there's no chance of him playing Monday night against the Patriots, he is expected to come back 100% in week 9. The writing is on the wall and it looks like Torain will be giving every opportunity to crack the team's starting line up. Fantasy owners holding Pittman should consider handcuffing this back, as it looks like it could come down to these two backs as the primary options to start for the Broncos.

Wide Receivers

Josh Morgan (SF)....the Niner's rookie receiver saw more action on Sunday, although he only recorded one catch for 25 yards. Morgan was targeted 4 times on Sunday and there rumors that he could pushing WR Bryant Johnson for more time. While he's not worth roster consideration, with Martz the OC in San Francisco, there's always a chance Morgan could become productive as the season progresses. He's worth watching for now.

Malcom Floyd (SD)...the Chargers 6'5" receiver saw his first real stint of action this season Sunday night against the Patriots and made the most of his opportunity. Floyd pulled in 3 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Even with Chambers expected return, it looks like Floyd could be the number three on the field, and another added weapon for Rivers to throw to. While we don't think he will be a reliable option just yet, he's definitely worth keeping your eye on.

NOISE-SHAKERS! PLAY-MAKERS! GAME-BREAKERS!

Williams traded to Dallas...
....in a surprise move the Cowboys have signed the Lions talented receiver Roy Williams. With the loss of Romo, the prognosis looking ahead was not promising for fantasy owners holding TO and Barber. Quarterback Brad Johnson lacks the arm strength to take full advantage of TO's playmaking ability and team's will likely stack the line and take Barber out of the game. That was before this big trade move by the always savvy businessman and Cowboy's team owner Jerry Jones. Williams is a bonafide WR1 in many leagues and his presence will create many matchup problems for defenses and make it difficult to double TO. Just when you thought it was dark and gloomy in fantasyland, here comes clear skies in the form of Roy Williams!

Garcia to start Week 7 for Bucs...
....taking all the guess work out of the equation, head coach Jon Gruden has already announced that quarterback Jeff Garcia will start in week 7. Better news for fantasy owners holding Garcia, the team could also see the return of wide receiver Joey Galloway. Before Sunday's game with the Panther's Galloway caught passes and said he felt better. Head coach Jon Gruden says Galloway has a chance to practice Wednesday, which would improve his probability of playing in week 7. Fantasy owners that rushed to pick up WR Antonio Bryant as a fill in, may need to start looking for other options with Galloway's return imminent. Because Galloway is an injury risk at his age, owners should wait at least a game, before inserting him back in your lineup.

Alexander signs with Redskins...
....not really looking for someone to make any significant contributions, the Redskins signed free agent running back Shaun Alexander. The word is Alexander is in great shape and was running well. With Portis the starter in Washington, Shaun has virtually no chance of seeing any extensive action this season, unless injuries change the situation. He's not worthy of a spot on any roster at this time.

Benson to start in Cincy...
....that is correct fantasy owners, running back Cedric Benson is back in the league and now appears to have a regular job (for now). The Bengal's offense has struggled this season to produce points, yards, and anything to spark life into a team that seems to be going no where fast. The team, once considered to have an aerial attack that could rival any other in the league, has not been the same with Carson Palmer's arm troubles and the running game has been even less. Following the trading of Rudi Johnson and the Chris Perry experiment, it now looks like head coach Marvin Lewis has hit desperation mode and will turn to Benson to ignite a run game that averages only 72 yards/game and 3.1 yards/carry. Benson has never done anything to make fantasy owners believe he's the answer to anything, with 36 yards rushing and a 2.6 yards/carry average nothing has changed.

Browns come to life on Monday Night...
....the Cleveland Browns entered the Monday night contest hoping to get their season turned around and got more than they hoped. Quarterback Derek Anderson, who has looked horrible during his struggles this season with 6 picks in 4 games, came out firing. Anderson resembled the player he was a year ago and the one fantasy owners had thought they drafted. Anderson's strong accurate passing also ignited the play of wide receiver Braylen Edwards. Edwards exploded for 154 yards receiving and a touchdown against the Giants top ranked defense (before Monday night's game). For the Browns, this was a statement game proving they are still a good team that can compete, for fantasy owners it was a big "PHEW!" Anderson and Edwards looked like their old selves giving owners promise of better things to come!

Lions place Kitna on Injured Reserve...
....the Lions have placed quarterback Jon Kitna on the injured reserve ending his 2008 season. Not only does this move end Kitna's season, but it in effect will likely end Kitna's tenure in Detroit as the starter. According to Kitna he could return this season, implicating that a settlement could happen ending his career in Detroit. With the move to IR, Kitna pretty much has no value in any fantasy leagues. Even if he should resurface somewhere, it's not likely it would be a situation he would start or see immediate action. It's time to release him off your roster and fill the spot with another player that can offer your team value.

Chambers to return against Bills....
....the Chargers WR Vincent Jackson had one of his best games Sunday night (5 receptions, 134 yards, 1 touchdown), thanks to the absence of WR Chris Chambers. With Chambers expected to make his return in week 7 against the Bills, fantasy owners can expect Jackson's value as a low end WR2 to take a slight hit. Chambers, who missed a couple of games with an ankle injury should not considered anything more than a low end WR2 as well.

Torain to practice Wednesday...
....the interesting situation in Denver continues to be perplexing. The Bronco's rookie running back Ryan Torain is expected to return to practice on Wednesday and this comes on the heels of Michael Pittman's solid running performance in week 6 against the Jaguars. Pittman recorded the team's first 100 yard rushing game and carried the ball 20 times, far more times than any other Bronco running back has done this season. Pittman looks in line to make his second start in week 7 with RB Selvin Young still slowed with a groin injury. For now Pittman looks like a strong flex play, with the jury is still out on Torain, who could be a dark horse sleeper in the 2nd half of the season.

Jones expected to miss 2-4 weeks...
....the Cowboys will be without the services of rookie running back Felix Jones for several weeks. The rookie suffered a strained hamstring in week 6 and will be sidelined for up to four weeks. With the loss of Romo and now Jones, the Cowboys will rely even more on the shoulders of Marion Barber to carry the running game work load. Third string running back Tashard Choice will back up Barber, but likely won't see the same amount of work the Cowboys were giving to Jones.

Graham takes on double duties...
....in a surprise and incredible unselfish move, the Buccaneers running back Earnest Graham was moved over to fullback, when Byron Storer was injured in the Buccaneer's game in week 6. Storer was the team's only active fullback on Sunday with B.J. Askew inactive. When he went down, Graham stepped up. The story is Graham approached head coach Jon Gruden and said he was willing to play fullback. As the lead blocker, Graham did an admirable job opening holes for RB Warrick Dunn who rushed for over 100 yards for the first time since October 2006. Fantasy owners can relax, the move on Sunday was not experimental, nor is the plan to continue using Graham at the fullback position. The team is expected to sign a fill in and return Graham back to his running back spot.

Gonzo to stay in Kansas City...

....the Chiefs future hall of fame tight end was not traded, despite all of the rumors flying around. The announcement came around 4pm ET just as the trade deadline approached. Apparently there were a number of teams showing interest, but no word if a deal was close. With Gonzales' career on the back nine, it's not likely that he will see the Chiefs rebuilding turned around before his time on the field expires. Right now the Chiefs are in rebuilding mode and their offense is one of the league's poorest. Fantasy owners that were hoping to draft a TE1 with their Gonzales pick, can now only hope for a low-end TE2 production going forward.

Week 7...
NFL Weekly Storylines

AFC

Palmer ruled out for week 7.
According to new reports from the team's official website, the Bengal's quarterback Carson Palmer has already been ruled out of week 7. Rumors are now surfacing that Palmer could potentially shut it down for the season. On Monday Palmer was in new York to visit with the Met's team doctor and according to John Clayton of ESPN.com, he will not need Tommy John surgery.
fantasy impact:
As we stated more than a week ago, this injury does not look like it's going away anytime soon. Right now the plan is to rest Palmer's sore elbow. With the situation apparently not getting any better, while he is sidelined Ryan Fitzpatrick will likley start. This could mean it's time for fantasy owners to start planning on life without Carson.

Peyton and Marvin Marvelous again.
The Colts quarterback and wide receiver looked like their old selves hooking up on Sunday for two scores. Manning seems to be getting his sea legs back, while Harrison looked as if he never lost his. Harrison only had three catches on Sunday, but averaged almost 28 yards per catch. Manning finished the day with 271 yards passing and threw three touchdowns.
fantasy impact:
What a differnece a bye week can make. Manning to Harrison looked pretty good in week 6 and going forward this looks like a good bet to bank on. Fantasy owners should count on bigger games from Manning and Harrions in weeks to come, especially with the running game taking a slight hit with the injury to Addai.

Chargers find swagger.
On national TV the Chargers made a huge statement in the AFC West race polishing off the defending AFC champs in rather easy fashion. San Diego took control early, jumped out fast to a 10-0 lead and never looked back. Phillip Rivers and the Chargers took the competitive nature out of this game early in the third quarter when the defense stuffed the Patriots scoring drive to open the 2nd half. The offense then took all the wind out of the Patriots sails, when Rivers connected with WR Vincent Jackson for 59 yards, which led to another Charger score that put this one away.
fantasy impact:
It did not take long for the Chargers to look like their old selves Sunday night. The only missing element was a big game from LT. Certainly the passing games appears to be in good hands with Rivers, Jackson, Gates, and Chambers. The running game however not quite up to par, did show signs of nearing health. LT did not have the fantasy numbers that owners are accustomed to seeing, but his 20 carries were a good sign that he is nearing 100% and on the verge of having a breakout game.

Jets flying not so high in Week 6.
It wasn't pretty on Sunday, but one thing to know about the Jets win in week 6, the team is now 3-2 and a contender in the AFC East. The offense is still a work in progress committing 3 turnovers in week 6, but Favre and company did just enough to keep the Jets flying. Led by Thomas Jones' three touchdowns the Jets offense outgained the Bengals 252 to 171.With the Pats on a two game slide, the Jets are now tied for 2nd in the division.
fantasy impact:
The Jet's offense need to get well soon. 252 yards of offense is hardly much to shout about the three turnovers against better teams will be tougher to overcome. One good sign for fantasy owners, it seems Favre has now developed a rapport with both Coles and Cotchery (both had 8 catches on Sunday).

NFC

Saints expect Colston Back.
The Saints have been one of the leagues most potented offenses averaging over 400 yards of offense every week and now it looks as though they will be getting their top reciever from a year ago. Word is out that the Saints are expecting the return of wide receiver Marques Colston in week 7. He is expected to fully practice this week and the Saints could also be looking at the return of tight end Jeremy Shockey.
fantasy impact: While the Saints head coach Sean Payton was not forthcoming with any deccisive information regarding Shockey's status for week 7, it is expected that he will need to see how the tight end practices this week. With Colston expected to fully practice, there's little doubt about his return to action in week 7. Fantasy owners should feel comfortable inserting him in their lineups as a low WR2 option (at least until he gets back to football speed).

Cowboys making plans without Romo.
Reports quickly circulated earlier today about the broken pinkie on quarterback Tony Romo's throwing hand. The Cowboy's passer will miss up to four weeks with the broken finger and back up quarterback Brad Johnson will take over the starting duties. It was first thought that the injury might not be as serious, but according to ESPN's Michael Smith Romo will likely be out until week 11.
fantasy impact: It could be time to scramble for fantasy owners that are holding Romo and Ownes. Johnson is not an appealing replacement option and his lack of a big arm is going to downgrade TO's value slightly (not that he was doing much before Romo's injury). TE Jason Witten could be the biggest winner with Johnson's short arm.

Alexander visits Washington.
And no, that is not Alexander visiting the Capitol. The Redskins are actually looking at possibly signing the former Seahawk running back. According to NFL.com with the loss of running back Ladell Betts, the Redskins could be looking to add some depth. Alexander is expected to visit with the team on Tuesday and could sign later in the week.
fantasy impact:
With Clinton Portis running like a freight train as of late, it's not likely the Redskins would need another back to contribute on the field. The acquistion would likely be only to add some depth on the bench, meaning Alexander would have no value to fantasy owners.

Hasselbeck will not play in week 7.
The Seahawks quarterback continues to fight through injuries, but will not be available to go in week 7. Hasselbeck's latest injury, a bulging disc in his back. The Seahawk's passer was sent to Los Angeles where he will see a specialist and rehab. The plan will be for Hasselbeck to return in week 8 against the Niners. With Hass out, the Seahawks could start Seneca Wallace over Charlie Frye who played very poorly in week 6.
fantasy impact:
Fantasy owners should start searching for a replacement now. Hasselbeck with his 28 touchdowns from last season was likely taken as a low QB1, but his chances of returning to form could be bleek if his run of injuries continues.
