Bradford's the talk of the town

After reading this week's edition of the Monday Morning Quarterback at SI.com, it sounds like Peter King is casting his vote for Sam Bradford as the top pick in this year's draft.

Bradford had his Pro day on Monday and by all counts he was impressive. It's no secret that the Rams (the team with the top pick) are in need at the quarterback position and after Bradford showed off his accurate arm making all the throws he needed, he's starting to look like a lock. If you read King's article you will catch all of his details and notes and the improvement and readiness of Bradford.

Whether he goes top or not, he won't last long on anyone's board that appears to be a certainty. For those of interested in this kid for fantasy reasons, going to a team like the Rams you can't expect results any better than Stafford in Detroit.

If Bradford does not go number one and makes it to the Redskins who are sitting at four, it sounds like D.C. could be a huge possibility. With Shanahan's tutelage it's hard to imagine Bradford not enjoying success, even early success. He won't race up any fantasy boards, but he'll be a keeper in most leagues (if taken by the Redskins).

The consensus at the moment, Bradford's pro day scored major points and moves him to the top of this year's quarterback class. The question is what will the teams at the top do? Maybe a trade between the Rams and Redskins involving quarterback Jason Campbell and this pick?

What's the Latest

McNabb on the trading block?....
Amid mixed reports it does sound like the possibility of Donovan McNabb not being an Eagle in 2010 could exist. After McNabb posted some interesting comments on his website you kind of get the feeling he may be thinking the same.

Despite all of this mixed info (the Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Rams are making an offer, the AP reports a source close to the Rams situation says offer is untrue) is really is hard to imagine that the Eagles would depart ways with McNabb. Even with Vick and Kolb currently on the roster, it does not make sense for Philly to pull the strings on a McNabb trade. Kolb is the future, but D-Mac gives them the best chance to win now (and they appear to be set up to make a run).

The odd ball here has to be Vick who does not figure into any long term plans. The fact the team retained Vick and paid out some cabbage to keep him on the roster could indicate the team believes he has some market value. Trading Vick just makes more sense than anything else.

The Eagle's 2009 campaign ended prematurely with a disappointing loss to the Cowboys in the Wildcard round, but the season leaves the team with great hope in 2010. Westbrook has moved on, but the team has already restocked its backfield with the acquisition of running back Mike Bell.

Last season McNabb missed two games after suffering an injury in week one, but even with the slow start D-Mac bounced back in the middle of the season to lead the Eagles to six straight wins and a playoff berth. McNabb finished the 2009 season strong with 22 touchdown passes and a 92.9 passer rating.

If the Eagles can address their deficiencies along the line, with a talented receiving corp (Jackson, Maclin, Avant, & Celek) in place and new help in the backfield, a McNabb led offense looks primed to make another post season run.

Rumors or not, I would not count on seeing McNabb in anything other than his midnight green number five jersey in 2010.

Trades, Signings, and Releases...

With the NFL draft still a month away, NFL Free agency continues to dominate the talk around most office watercoolers. The biggest moves, trades, and signings continue to draw a lot of interest for those of us immersed in the world of fantasy football.

Rumors continue to circulate around the league with names like Marshall, McNabb, and Owens being thrown in the mix. Fantasy owners will have to continue to monitor the football wires and the rumor mills with every move having some kind of impact on the upcoming 2010 fantasy season.

Players like Willie Parker, Justin Fargas, Laveranues Coles, Kevin Curtis, and Brian Westbrook remain on the market and while their eventual destination may not raise too many eyebrows they could still draw some fantasy interest (depending on where they land).

More Fantasy Notes:

Change is Good

With LaDanian Tomlinson joining one of the league’s best power running games in New York he should be able offer some fantasy value in 2010, but he's going to lose his notable RB1 draft position.

The Bears added running back Chester Taylor and from the comments made by new offensive coordinator Mike Martz, he could have much more value in Chicago than he ever did in Minnesota. Martz could be employing a very sophisticated offensive scheme that could employ both Forte and Taylor as two productive components.

The Chiefs added some veteran help in the backfield with the signing of running back Thomas Jones. Although they still have Jamaal Charles don't expect the vet to sit idle and take a back seat. Jones could very well share the load and be the team's featured short yardage ball carrier (especially in the red-zone).

Tomlinson Visits the Vikings....

LT's playing days in San Diego may be over, but it sure looks like the former NFL MVP is not finished just yet. On Wednesday LT visited with the Viking's officials and from recent reports it sounds like there is a good chance Tomlinson could be sharing duties in the backfield with Adrian Peterson.

At 30 years of age LT's best playing days may be behind him, but in a backup role in Minnesota he could be a nice fit. Peterson would likely handle the brunt of the ground game, but LT could give the Vikings the versatility of a pass receiver out of the backfield, much in the same way as Chester Taylor (Bears). Tomlinson would also add invaluable leadership to a team that was knocking on the doorsteps of a Super Bowl appearance just a few short months ago.

Tomlinson had over 500 career receptions and 3,900 yards receiving as a Charger. Now behind one of the league's better run blocking lines he may not rise to fantasy prominence in 2010, but could easily contribute and offer some value as a backup running back in most leagues (PPR leagues in particular).

LT's numbers;

2,880 carries

12,490 yards rushing

138 rushing touchdowns

530 receptions

3,955 yards receiving

15 receiving touchdowns

Last season LT recorded his lowest numbers in receptions (20), receiving yards (154), rushing attempts (223), and rushing yards (730). As a Viking he could easily match and surpass most of those numbers (especially the receiving numbers).

A deal has not been reached as of Wednesday evenings, but there are a lot of signs indicating LT is not likely to leave Minnesota without getting one done.

Player Notes From Across My Wire...

Chiefs re-sign wide receiver Chris Chambers....

Last season Chris Chambers (high-WR3) was a nice compliment to Dwayne Bowe (mid-WR2), when Bowe stayed out of trouble and played. Chambers played in just nine games with the Chiefs averaging nearly 70 yards receiving per game and scoring five touchdowns. With a full training camp and Bowe opposite, he could have a solid 2010 campaign.

Eagles resign wide receiver Jason Avant...

With DeSean Jackson (mid-WR1) and Jeremy Maclin (high-WR4) the Eagles have plenty of speed in the passing game to spread the field. Jason Avant (low-WR4) is not a big receiver, but can give the Eagles more of a physical presence over the middle. With so much talent around him, Avant won't be a big fantasy play, but he'll have his occasional hot hand.

Raiders release wide receiver Javon Walker....

The now former Raider receiver Javon Walker (no value) has not been fantasy relevant since his days as a Bronco. The release is a smart move for the Raiders and could mean the end of Walker's playing days. Walker caught just 15 passes in two seasons with Oakland.
