Looking ahead to the weekend for the insight and information to help you set your fantasy football lineups. This is a list of the top targeted receivers out wide, from the backfield, and at tight end for Week 8.

The Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (fantasy WR22) remains fantasy relevant averaging over 9 targets per game. A Week 9 matchup with the Chargers on Monday night looks like a promising outcome for Wilson and company. The Chargers secondary has allowed the third most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receiver this season.

The Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (fantasy TE1) has looked unrecoverable and unstoppable all season and his target share shows, quarterback Patrick Mahomes agrees. Kelce is averaging over 9 targets per game and has a 79.4% success catch rate this season. With 54 receptions, 583 yards, and 4 touchdowns he’s locked in every week.

The Saints running back Alvin Kamara has been fantasy gold in ppr formats since returning to action in Week 4. Kamara has been targeted 44 times (8.8 per game) this season, most of any running back in the NFL recording 39 receptions and 228 yards receiving. He’s locked into lineups every week and is a DFS favorite this week.

Touches Are Fantasy Gold

Just like a receiver needs to be targeted, a running backs success leans heavily on how many times they touch (carries + catches) the rock.

For consecutive weeks now, Saquon Barkley has led all backfields with the most touches for the week. Heading out west this week to face the Raiders, Barkley figures to be prominent once again. He may not reach the 30 carry plateau this Sunday, but he looks like a strong bet to reach 20+ touches.

Garrett Wilson (Jets) The Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (fantasy WR23 - for the season) has been heavily targeted (33 targets) over his last three games. He has 32 receptions for 369 yards receiving and two touchdowns this season.

Drake London (Falcons) The Falcons receiver Drake London (fantasy WR37) has seen a steady diet of 28 targets over his last three games. London has 32 receptions for 383 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns this season.

Jakobi Meyers (Raiders) The Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (fantasy WR12) has been a busy pass-catcher of late with 30 targets over his last three games. This season Meyers has caught 37 passes for 385 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns.

Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions) The Lions rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs (fantasy RB21) is coming off his best game of the season in Week 7. When he’s been healthy, Gibbs has been a big part of the passing game. Over his last two games he’s seen 15 targets. He’s a weekly play in ppr formats.

Fantasy Football Quick Takes

Jets vs Giants Matchup

The Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (fantasy WR23) has 32 receptions for 369 yards receiving and two touchdowns this season. Despite the inconsistent play at quarterback, Wilson remains a low-end WR-2 or flex play.

Jaguars vs Steelers Matchup

The Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr (fantasy RB5) has rushed for 504 yards with 7 touchdowns this season. Etienne Jr has also caught 24 passes for 196 yards receiving. Over the past three weeks Etienne has been the top fantasy running back, he’s locked in this week and should be a safe Top-10 fantasy RB.

Eagles vs Commanders Matchup

The Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin (fantasy WR25) has caught 37 passes for 432 yards with one touchdown this season. A fringe WR-2 thus far this season, McLaurin has a friendly matchup this week with the Eagles 31st in fantasy against wide receivers.

Texans vs Panthers Matchup

The Texans quarterback CJ Stroud (fantasy QB17) has thrown for 1,660 yards (276.6/game) and tossed 9 touchdowns to one pick this season. Over his last three games Stroud has averaged more than 250 yards passing per game with 5 touchdowns. Sitting just outside the top-12 this week, he’s a strong play in 2-QB leagues.

Browns vs Seahawks Matchup

The Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker (fantasy RB8) has rushed for 450 yards this season, adding 7 touchdowns (6 run, 1 receive) and 13 receptions for 106 yards receiving. A full participant, Walker is good to go for Sunday and locked-in fantasy lineups.

Fantasy Stocks: On the Rise

From the desk of The (fantasy) Football Street Journal, as we head into the 2023 NFL season, these are the fantasy stocks on the rise. Get your shares.

     

Stocks on the Rise

Garrett Wilson, ADP 2.04 - The Jets 2nd year receiver continues to build off of his 1st year success and with the addition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers it seems his fantasy ceiling continues to rise. Wilson is an exceptional talent and with a great quarterback under center this season, he has the makings of an Elite WR1. His stock is on a fast rise.

George Pickens, ADP 6.10 - I’ve seen enough highlight reel of Pickens as a Steeler to believe in his talent and ability. He’s been one of my fantasy targets throughout the draft season. During the preseason he and his quarterback have already connected on several nice plays. Pickens' star is on the rise along with his fantasy stock value.

Jahan Dotson, ADP 7.01 - The Commanders have themselves quite a talent in 2nd year receiver Dotson and this camp the kid’s been ballin out. There’s a lot of talk about Dotson’s fantasy outlook and potential. And he’s displayed some of that promise this preseason with a number of impressive grabs. If that’s any indicator, the sky's the limit for this kid. His stock just keeps climbing.

Darren Waller, ADP 5.12 - The Giants tight end has been all the rave in camp this preseason. With no true number one receiving option in the offense, the opportunity is there for Waller to take the lion’s share. He’s a great talent with the ability to be a Top-3 fantasy tight end. As the NFL season nears, Waller’s stock keeps on climbing.

James Cook, ADP 7.06 - The Bills 2nd year running back looks to take a big leap forward in 2023. With the departure of Devin Singletary, the door is open for Cooks to take on a larger role in the Bills offense. The team did add Damien Harris to the backfield, but there’s been chatter surrounding Cook taking on a bigger role. Last season Cook did a lot of good things down the stretch, splitting time in the backfield and contributing in the pass game. His stock continues to move on the way up.

2023 Breakout Players

George Pickens, WR-Steelers / ADP 6.10 - The Steelers wide receiver has displayed his incredible talent and receiving prowess throughout training camp and the preseason. He has great athletic ability and great hands. He showed plenty of flash as well in 2022, setting up what could be a breakout campaign in 2023. 

Jahan Dotson, WR-Commanders / ADP 7.01 – Dotson has been one of those players this preseason that has been the talk of Fantasy Radio. He showed some flash in 2022, scoring a touchdown in 3 of his last 5 games while totaling 344 yards receiving with 21 receptions. Dotson is could be on the verge of a big 2023 season.

Garrett Wilson, WR-Jets / ADP 2.04 – When future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers calls you special, you know that’s something. Last year’s AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, Wilson could be the piece that was missing from Rodgers derailed 2022 fantasy season. The talk is Wilson could be a top-5 fantasy wide receiver, currently being drafted as WR10.

Aaron Rodgers, QB-Jets / ADP 9.08 – Last season Rodgers overall numbers dipped quote a bit, but he didn’t have his Alpha receiver Davante Adams who had moved onto the Raiders. Traded to New York in the offseason, Rodgers may have found his new Alpha (receiving) weapon in 2nd year receiver Garrett Wilson. The benefit of having a receiver of Wilson’s caliber could return Rodgers to fantasy relevance as a top-6 fantasy quarterback.

Kenny Pickett, QB-Steelers / ADP 13.09 – The Steelers 2nd year quarterback has looked sharp in the preseason and although we don’t want to read too much it’s a good sign. Another big sign is the weapons he has in Pittsburgh, with receivers Diontae Johnson and Pickens, add a trusty tight end like Pat Freiermuth and Pickett is a favorite of mine to outperform his current QB20 draft position.

Jordan Love, QB-Packers / ADP 14.04 – Just like Pickett, I really like the Packers quarterback to outperform his current QB24 draft position. He’s been sharp in camp this season completing over 60% of his throws and tossing three touchdowns. And although the sample size is small, this is Love’s 4th season in Green Bay and I believe he’s primed and ready to breakout.

2023 Fantasy Draft Day: On the Clock

(12-Team, PPR format, Fantasy Calculator ADP)

RB-Tony Pollard, Current ADP 2.03 - the Cowboys running back enjoyed his best season as a professional in 2022 totaling 1,378 yards of offense (1,007 yards, 371 yards receiving), adding 9 rushing touchdowns and 3 receiving. Pollard finished the 2022 season as the No.9 fantasy running back. Right now he’s going as an early 2nd round pick in fantasy drafts.

WR-Garrett Wilson, Current ADP 2.04 - the Jets receiver finished his 2022 campaign earning the AP Rookie of the Year award. In his first season Wilson grabbed 83 balls for 1,103 yards receiving with 4 touchdowns. He finished 2022 as the No.28 fantasy receiver, but with a Hall of Fame quarterback under center in New York, Wilson appears to be on a trajectory to make a huge jump. He’s also an early 2nd round pick in fantasy drafts right now.
