This Week on the Cover….
Brees or Brady?
Who is the best fantasy quarterback?….
While this could make an interesting debate, really is there any argument here that matters. If you and your buddy are holding the top two picks in your fantasy draft, your taking one and he’s grabbing the other.
Last season Brees was more than impressive leading the NFL’s top offense and passing for over 5,000-yards. He became only the second quarterback in NFL history to accomplish the feat. The quarterback’s impressive 2008 resume includes 413 of 635 passing (65% completion), 317-yards passing per game, 34 touchdowns, and a 96.2 passer rating. This season Drew will return will a fully loaded arsenal and is a good candidate to have a repeat performance.
Like his counterpart in New Orleans, the Patriots Tom Brady will be returning in 2009 with much of his same record setting 2007 staff in place. In 2007 Brady and company that included Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Laurence Maroney, and Kevin Faulk made history with 16 wins, 75 touchdowns, and 589 points scored.
With Brady at the helm during their record setting season the Patriots offense moved the ball with such ease that they resembled more of a video game, than an NFL team. Brady passed for over 4,800-yards, completed nearly 70% of his passes, and tossed 50 touchdown passes.
While there may be some questions regarding Brady’s knee injury that ended his 2008 season, so far he’s showed no ill effect this preseason. With all of the weapons the Patriots have on offense, if there is any risk it is greatly outweighed by the reward.
Whether it’s Brees or Brady, the odds look good that you’ll have the best fantasy quarterback. Sorry Peyton.
Check back everyday for more football!
