Sunday Night FF Headlines

Who’s making Fantasy News this Past Week?

WR Brandon Marshall is re-instated by the Broncos……
With Gaffney out and no true number one receiver in camp, there’s no question Marshall is needed back. On Sunday the Bronco’s filed the necessary paperwork to get Marshall back on the field, but until we see how he responds and how the team uses him (first team, second team, waterboy), he remains a huge fantasy risk…..

LB-Shawne Merriman arrested on Sunday morning….
Early reports indicated that Merriman was arrested for battery and assault, but new details coming out tell a different story. We are hearing Merriman was trying to prevent his celebrity friend from leaving his home and driving drunk. According to the Sherriff’s department, since the complaint was filed by law Merriman was arrested and taking into custody. Since the arrest no files have been charged and at the moment it appears fantasy owners may not be at risk of losing Merriman for the season, but with the story still not over we’ll have to wait and see…..

DB-Kerry Rhodes thinks Marshall could end up in New York?.....
According to Rhodes who tweeted “that is a big announcement and may happen….”the whole Marshall deal is not all talk. There’s been nothing definitive released by either team to this point and according to many credible sources this trade is highly unlikely. Possible or not it’s interesting to hear this from a Jets player……

DL–Richard Seymour traded to Raiders for a draft pick…
Two things here, one the Patriots must not feel they need the services of Seymour who is solid, but an injury risk. The move to Oakland could possibly improve Seymour’s fantasy value; he’s certain to see a lot of action. The second point, the Patriots must also believe the Raiders will be terrible asking for a first round pick……

RB-Jonathan Stewart expected to be ready for Week 1…

The Panthers certainly sound a lot more optimistic than we. If Stewart makes it back from an injury that had him sidelined most of camp, we are not expecting much from the second year back. With his proneness to injury, Stewart’s fantasy value has fallen and the rise of rookie running back Mike Goodson doesn’t help either……

QB-AJ Feeley released by Eagles…
The move may have been more about the improved play of second year quarterback Kevin Kolb, than just making room for Michael Vick. With Kolb looking better this preseason and the addition of Vick, it was apparent Feeley would become expendable. There were rumors the team was trying to trade Feeley, but could not find any takers. Feeley is still a very capable back-up and could land somewhere in the near future, but he’ll have no fantasy value anytime soon…….
