Sunday's Game Notes:

  • The Eagles had their chances to knock off the defending Super Bowl champs Sunday night, falling short on a 4 and short play late in the 4th quarter. It was a hard fought match between two of the NFC East "Big boys:, but ultimately it was the Giants defense (1 sack, 2 turnovers, constant pressure) and running game (219 yards on the ground) that proved to be too much for their foes.
  • The Steelers and Colts battled in a tough AFC conference matchup. In a game the Steelers would have like to have taken and one that the Colts needed, it would come down to the defense and it was the Colts' that made the final play. Three costly turnovers by Ben Roethliseberger took this one away from the Steelers. The Colts defense applied the pressure with DE Dwight Freeney sacking Big Ben twice, while Peyton Manning and company effectively moved the ball through the air for three big scores. The win keeps the Colts playoff hopes very much alive.
  • The Chargers kept their hopes alive for another AFC Western division title on Sunday, by holding off the upstart Chiefs. It came down to another 2-point conversion try to decide the Chargers fate on Sunday. With nothing to lose the Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards decided to roll the dice, but came up short when quarterback Tyler Thigpen's pass fell short of it's intended receiver and was knocked down by the defense. The Chargers win kept the one game back of the division leading Broncos.
