Week 11...

NFL Weekly Storylines

AFC

Bronco's cupboard is bare.
The Broncos have now lost three running backs this season to injury with the recent placement of rookie Ryan Torain on the Injured Reserve.
fantasy impact: The situation has gotten so bad, Thursday night the team was reduced to using full-back Peyton Hillis as their lone running back. With Selvin Young likely out for a while, the team signed RB PJ Pope off the practice squad. Fantasy owners should not count on Pope doing much on the ground, as the Broncos will likely be airing it out from here.

Palmer not expected to practice or play.
It is being reported that Bengal's quarterback Carson Palmer will not practice or play this week. Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to make his 5th straight start.
fantasy impact: The future of the 2008 season for Palmer is looking bleak. Even though the former Trojan has not shut it down this season, it's time for fantasy owners to do it.

LJ set to return in Week 11?
According to the head coach Herm Edwards, running back Larry Johnson is expected to play in Week 11 against the Saints. When asked, Edwards responded with an emphatic "Oh yeah."
fantasy impact: If LJ can stay out of trouble and practice this week with the team, he looks like a very strong fantasy play. With Edwards endorsing the move to play Johnson, fantasy owners would be smart to follow his lead.

BenJarvous the best flavor in Foxboro.
The Patriots running back was solid in Week 10 rushing for more than 100 yards in the team's big division win over the Bills. With Morris and Jordan still hobbled, expect to see BenJarvous continue to see more work.
fantasy impact: The undrafted rookie has scored in three straight games and following a 100 yard rushing performance against a respectable Bills defense, fantasy owners can expect BenJarvous to see the lion's share of carries, even when Morris returns.

Jets sign Law, could play Thursday.
The Jets are now tied with the Patriots for 1st place in the AFC East and will be looking to challenge the defending AFC champs for the division. This Thursday night these two teams will meet and the signing of former Patriots cornerback Ty Law is just an indication of exactly that.
fantasy impact: Is there no love lost between Mangini and Belichick. What these two will do to out-do the other. At 34, Law will not be expected to be a starter, but with his veteran experience he could be effective in the nickel packages.

Thigpen plays well Sunday.
The Chiefs quarterback has been playing at a high level in his last couple of starts recording his second career 100+ passer rating this season.
fantasy impact: Thigpen has ratings of 110.9, 89.4, & 108.4 in his last three starts and has passed for 730 yards and 6 touchdowns during that span. Thigpen seems to be coming into his own and could be getting LJ back in Week 11. Owners should only consider him a solid flex for now.

NFC

Culpepper experiment less than a success.
The Lions experiment with Culpepper was anything but a success. Culpepper was ineffective and completing only 5 of 10 passes for 104 yards with an interception on the team's first series.
fantasy impact: Culpepper has not played, but for the last five days and to expect to see anything more than what we saw was unrealistic. It could be a while before Culpepper gets better, but that's if the Lion's decide to continue in this directions. Owners need to avoid this situation.

Green or Bulger, offense in trouble?
The Rams were down 40-0 when the head coach Jim Haslett pulled quarterback Marc Bulger in favor of Trent Green. Bulger completed only 6 of 13 passes for 65 yards with a pick. Green did not fair much better completing just 5 of 10 for 70 yards and a pick.
fantasy impact: Right now neither quarterback appears to be an appealing option, although Bulger has more arm strength which would favor the Rams speedy receivers like Avery and Stanley. Owners should avoid both Green and Bulger until Jackson is healthy and back in the line up.

Hasselbeck set to return in Week 11.
It is being reported that Matt Hasselbeck will begin practicing with the team this week and could play this Sunday against Arizona.
fantasy impact: This news has been a long time coming, but to be safe owners should not take anyone or thing for the word, but wait till we see this happen. Until Hasselbeck is back on the field practicing, he's not much of an option.

Cadillac likely to be activated
It is being reported that Buccaneers running back Carnell Williams will likely be activated this Wednesday. Williams is coming back from a severe knee injury 14 months ago. If activated, RB Michael Bennett is expected to be the odd-man out.
fantasy impact: Because of the severity of his injury, Williams is a high risk fantasy play that most owners should not consider, even in Dynasty leagues. Only time will tell if William's comeback is complete, until then he does not offer any fantasy value.

Orton hopeful to return this week.
The Bears quarterback returned last Friday to practice, although on a very limited basis, but was hopeful to play in Week 10. With another week of rest, if he can practice this week Orton has a chance to play Sunday against the Packers.
fantasy impact: The Bears quarterback appears to be a gamer and if he's able to go full in practice this Friday, not only will he play, but expect him to be effective. Orton has had a solid 2008 campaign and should be considered a fantasy QB2 option against the Packers.

Boss is a Giant in charge.
The Giants tight end has become a solid red-zone target for Eli and the G-men in recent weeks. In Sunday night's divisional clash with the Eagles, Boss was big with 6 receptions for 69 yards and a touchdown.
fantasy impact: The Giants tight end has turned into a scoring machine over the past three weeks with touchdowns in each game. Boss, right now is playing at TE1 level and should be in your line up every Sunday. Only in PPR leagues should owners consider better options.
