“Sunday’s Heroes”

Week Six in the NFL…

The top dogs…

Even in rain, sleet, or snow, like the post office quarterback Tom Brady delivers. Earlier today on a snow white covered field in Foxboro, the Patriots quarterback lit up the Titan’s secondary like one hundred Christmas candles. Brady was perfect on the day throwing for 380 yards, six touchdowns, including five in the second quarter alone, and completing 29 of 34 passes to finish with a 152.8 passer rating.

Not to be outdone, the Saints quarterback Drew Brees was more than heroic on the gridiron, he was a Saint and near perfect himself. In one of the featured games this weekend facing the undefeated Giants, Brees and his high-powered passing game proved to be too much. Brees completed 23 of 30 passes for 369 yards and tossed four touchdowns in a rout going away, 48-27.

Quietly the brilliant Mr. Brett Favre just seems to re-writing his own history with another 4th quarter comeback, this time over the Ravens. In a game that the Vikings led most of the way, Favre watched as the Ravens stormed back to make a game of it, and take a 31-30 lead. Then Favre did simply what he does and used every bit of his 21 of 29 passing and 278 yards passing, including a key Favre-like 58-yard strike down the stretch to lead yet another comeback.

It was a career day and a franchise rushing record for running back Thomas Jones. The Jets tailback carried the ball on Sunday 22 times and gained 210 yards on the ground. His day was highlighted with a 71-yard scamper to paydirt.

On Sunday against the Buccaneers running back DeAngelo Williams paced the Panthers ground attack with 30 carries for 152 yards rushing. Williams also added a couple scores with a 20-yard run in the 2nd quarter and a 1-yard game-winning blast in the 4th quarter.

Both Patriot's receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker had special days in the snow on Sunday. Welker was huge in the Foxboro white-out catching 10 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. On the other side along the line of scrimmage the Patriot's big playmaking receiver was also very good. Moss hauled in eight Brady passes for 129 yards and found the snow covered end-zone three times on the day. It was a big day for the Patriot's passing game and a big win over the Titans 59-0.

These were just a few of Week Six Gridiron Gladiators. Check out the rest of Sunday’s Heroes from yesterday’s action;
