THE FANTASY E.R.

Week Seven Surprises & "Eyebrow Raisers"

There's no question last week was a huge week for running backs in fantasy football with four rushers all surpassing the 150 or more yards rushing in a game mark and one more coming up just a yard short! There was also a total of eleven runners that ran for 100 or more yards in week 7 as well. While it was a big week for the boys in the backfield, they were not the only source of surprises in week 7.

If we are still in need, "Searching the scrap heaps," looking for answers, trying to fined value find solace in the fact that there are still a few strong arms and good hands people raising eyebrows! Here were your week 7 surprise performances from some of the not-quite-ready for "Prime-Time" Fantasy Players.

Strong Arms!
QB-KYLE ORTON (CHI)
The Bears quarterback has been so consistent as of late, that soon his strong fantasy production will stop being a surprise and fantasy owners will start looking to him as a weekly starter. Last Sunday Orton made his case passing for 283 yards and tossed two touchdowns! (21-FPts)

QB-CHAD PENNINGTON (MIA)
The Dolphins quarterback, not known for a big arm had a big fantasy day last Sunday against the Ravens in a losing cause. Pennington was steady completing 24 of 35 passes for 295 yards on the afternoon. The Miami quarterback also tossed one touchdown and threw one interception. (17-FPts)

Crazy Legs!
RB-DOMINIQUE RHODES (IND)
The Colts veteran back up running back has been a solid fill-in for fantasy owners. Starting in place of injured running back Joseph Addai, Rhodes has been a fantasy gem rushing for more than 140 yards in two weeks and scoring 3 touchdowns. Last Sunday Rhodes scored twice, carried the ball 20 times for 73 yards and added 4 catches for 41 yards. (23-FPts)

RB-THOMAS JONES (NYJ)
It's not so surprising to see Jones turn in a solid Sunday, but what is surprising is to see the Jets durable running back carry the ball 24 times and run for 159 yards on the ground. For Two weeks now the Jets back has had a big productive day undoubtedly raising many "eyebrows" in fantasy circles! (15-FPts)

RB-SAMMY MORRIS (NE)
In some ways it was no surprise to see the Patriots running back running rough-shod all over the Broncos porous defense on Monday night. In other ways, it was a surprise to see that Morris still had that much left in him. The Pats running back rushed for 138 yards on 16 carries (8.6 yds/carry) with a touchdown before exiting early with an injury. (19-FPts)

RB-MEWELDE MOORE (PIT)
The Steelers back running back getting the start in place of injured Willie Parker was a solid fantasy start in Week 7. Moore tallied 20 carries for 120 yards on the ground and added two rushing touchdowns and a receiving score in the team's blowout win over the Bengals. (29-FPts)

RB-STEVE SLATON (HOU)
The Texan's rookie continued his solid play in Week 7, despite the return of veteran running back Ahman Green. Slaton managed 17 carries for 80 yards and added a rushing touchdown in the team's second win of the season. (14-FPts)

RB-LENDALE WHITE (TEN)
The Titan's running back has had a nose for the goal line all season, but not enough to be anything more than a mid RB3, but last Sunday he elevated his game to another level. The former Trojan raised a many "eyebrows" scampering his way for a total of 149 rushing yards on 17 carries (8.7 yds/carry). White also added another three scores, raising his season total to 8. (32-FPts)

Good hands people!
WR-ANTONIO BRYANT (TB)
The Buccaneers have been without receiver Joey Galloway most of the season, but it looks like they have found their new number one. Last week WR Antonio Bryant caught 6 passes for 115 receiving yards and scored one touchdown in the team's Sunday night win! (17-FPts)

WR-DERRICK MASON (ARI)
The Ravens receiver Derrick Mason has been the epitome of Mr.Consistency in the team's passing game. Last week Mason pulled in 6 passes, it was the 4th time in the team's six games that Mason had at least 5 catches this season and he has had no fewer 4 in any game this season. Mason finished last Sunday with 6 receptions, 87 yards and his first touchdown of the year! (14-FPts)

WR-JOSH MORGAN (SF)
The Niner's rookie came up solid in his first start this season at the wideout position. Last week Morgan caught 5 passes for 86 receiving yards and a score in the team's loss to the Giants. (14-FPts)

WR-RANDY MOSS (NE)
The big surprise has been the re-emergence of Moss as a fantasy force. Well maybe not quite force, but Moss has usually been big on Monday night, and last week against the Broncos, he did not disappoint with 5 catches for 69 yards with two touchdowns! (18-FPts)

TE-OWEN DANIELS (HOU)
The Texans tight end is quickly elevating his level of play into one of the elite. Daniels has been consistent averaging 68 yards receiving and 5 receptions per game over his last 5. In week 7, Daniels caught 6 passes for 66 yards and scored his first two touchdowns! (18-FPts)

More notable surprises from some fantasy "Hidden-Jewels"

**The Lions rookie RB Kevin Smith has shown big play capability averaging 8.2 yards per carry in his last two games. On Sunday in week 7 Smith totaled 68 yards with a score. (12-FPts)

**The Texans running back Ahman Green, now running healthy chipped in 14 carries for 62 yards and a score in Week 7. (12-FPts)
**The Colts tight end is no hidden jewel, likely sitting on someone's roster, it was nice to Dallas Clark return to form with 8 pass receptions for 81 yards in the team's Week 7 loss to the Packers.
**The Bear's wide receiver Marty Booker was productive last Sunday with 3 catches for 79 yards (26.3 yds/catch), including a 51 yard catch and run for a touchdown!
**Anytime an Oakland Raider has a decent fantasy start it seems like a surprise. WR Javon Walker caught 5 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown raising a few fantasy owner's 'eyebrows.'
