Gary Brackett suffered an undisclosed injury late in the fourth quarter of Monday night's game at Miami, according to the Indianapolis Star.
My Fantasy Read on Brackett: The Colts middle linebacker has been steady in the middle thus far racking up 17 total tackles. The Colts can’t afford to lose him for any extended period and fantasy owners love his production….
Jermaine Phillips, S, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
According to the St. Petersburg Times, the Bucs have placed Jermaine Phillips in injured reserve with a broken thumb.
My Fantasy Read on Phillips: The loss will hurt the Buc’s secondary which is already thin, but Phillips real lost value was going to come in week 5 when he was expected to move to linebacker. Owners will have to plan for the future….
Justin Tuck, DE, New York Giants
According to the Newark Star-Ledger, Justin Tuck is still questionable to start in the Giants Week 3 matchup with the Bucs.
My Fantasy Read on Tuck: The Giant’s defensive end is suffering from the shoulder injury he sustained when he was tripped in Sunday Night’s epic battle with the Cowboys. Tuck is a highly productive end, if he plays even at less than 100 percent he should be able to give owners something…..
Kelvin Hayden, CB, Indianapolis Colts
Kelvin Hayden suffered an undisclosed injury in the fourth quarter of Monday night's game at Miami, according to the Indianapolis Star
My Fantasy Read on Hayden: The Colts can’t afford to have another starter missing on defense. Hayden is a solid covering corner, but he needs to stay on the field. His recent healthy woes have made him a risky IDP play and now it looks like he’s dinged up again….
Terrell Suggs, DE, Baltimore Ravens
Mike Preston of the Baltimore Sun is reporting that Ravens' linebacker Terrell Suggs may be out of shape. Suggs was not effective in the first half of Sunday's game, and he didn't play much in the second half.
My Fantasy Read on Suggs: Normally a big playmaker and IDP especial Suggs does look a little off, but note he’s still being productive with 1.5 sacks on Sunday. If he’s out of shape, with playing he will only get better. Owners keep him in your lineups…..
Lawrence Timmons, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Lawrence Timmons is progressing in his recovery from a sprained ankle, and head coach Mike Tomlin stated that the linebacker should be able to play in a full capacity in Week 3 at Cincinnati, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
My Fantasy Read on Timmons: The third year linebacker is expected to add more playmaking ability to an already talented unit. While his production was modest last week, expect bigger things on Sunday. If he’s available, he’s worth a waiver wire pick up….

Jamar Fletcher continues to compete for the nickel role as the No. 3 cornerback in the Bengals' secondary, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals' official website is reporting that cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was excused from Tuesday's practice to attend to a personal matter. He is expected to return to the team on Wednesday.
Larry English, LB, San Diego Chargers
Larry English returned to practice following his three-week bout with a strained hamstring, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He said, "You cannot duplicate what you need to do on the field when you are not practicing. I tried to stay mentally in it, and it helped me. But I am glad to be back."
Bob Sanders, S, Indianapolis Colts
Head coach Jim Caldwell is optimistic regarding Bob Sanders' recovery from offseason knee surgery, according to the Indianapolis Star. Caldwell said, "Dr. James Andrews has looked at him and really feels he is on target and coming along. He is making progress. Sanders feels good about where he is, Dr. Andrews feels good about where he is, so that means I should feel good about where he is."
Geno Hayes, LB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
According to the Pewter Report, Geno Hayes will begin the season as the team's starting weakside linebacker while Jermaine Phillips fills in for the suspended Tanard Jackson at free safety.

Gibril Wilson was absent from Tuesday's morning practice as he was attending to a personal matter, according to the Palm Beach Post.

49ers' beat writer Matt Maiocco is reporting on his Twitter page that the team has activated defensive end Ray McDonald off the PUP list. McDonald has been sidelined while recovering from offseason knee surgery.
Brian Cushing, LB, Houston Texans
According to the team's official website, Texans' rookie linebacker Brian Cushing is still not ready to return to practice. Cushing is expected to participate in drills early this week, and the team hopes he may be able to return later in the week.
Rocky Bernard, DT, New York Giants
According to ESPN.com, Giants' defensive lineman Rocky Bernard is expected to see his first action of the preseason this weekend when his team plays the Jets. Bernard has missed time this summer with a hamstring injury.

Dusty Dvoracek, DT, Chicago Bears
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Bears' defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek will miss the entire 2009 season with a torn ACL. This is the fourth straight year Dvoracek has suffered a season-ending injury.
My Fantasy Quick takes and Reads….
On DB-Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie:
He’s a playmaker and will worthy of drafting in IDP leagues. DRC led the Cards in 2008 with four picks, including one he took to the house….
On LB-Larry English:
Not only is English is back on the field, but if you are drafting IDP this season, you better speak his language. The Chargers are full at the linebacker spot, but this kid is too good to not be on the field. One some point this season, he’ll be worth a fantasy spot…..
On DB-Bob Sanders:
The Colt’s head coach may feel good, but with Sander’s history of injuries fantasy owners should feel distant. Sanders remains a risky option until he’s completely healed, avoid at this time…..
On DB-Jermaine Phillips:
Phillips will likely be a good play for the first four games back at his natural position of safety, but he’ll have some upside once he moves closer to the line at weakside linebacker……
On DB-Gibril Wilson:
The former Raider safety, now playing with the Dolphins is still a worthy IDP drafting option. Coming off 129 tackles a year ago, he’s going to be one of the top DB’s taken……
On DL-Leonard Little:
Even at the age of 34 and despite his recent injury woes over the past couple of season, Little can still be a productive DL this season. He’s a risk given his past history, but with six sacks last season, the more he plays in 2009 the greater the reward…..
On LB-Thomas Davis:
The Panthers 5th year linebacker has been steadily improving since his arrival. Coming off his best season with 113 tackles in 2008, Davis is going to be one of the more productive linebackers this season. He’s a top IDP selection…..
On LB-Nick Barnett:
The Packers backer is coming off an injury shortened 2008 and will be looking to rebound this season. Barnett could be a forgotten name in fantasy, but shouldn’t be. In 2007 he finished with 102 solo tackles and 3.5 sacks, both career highs. He’s only in his 7th season and likely to be available in the mid rounds, snatch him up if you can….
On LB-Jon Beason:
The Panthers middle-backer has been a beast since his arrival to the NFL. He’s averaged nearly 140-tackles his first two seasons. Despite the injury, he remains a top IDP selection in fantasy drafts, but you better follow it up…..
On LB-Brian Cushing:
It’s never good when your rookie is sidelined. Until he returns to action, he’ll be a risky pick despite all the hype. Draft with caution…..
On LB-Antonio Pierce:
Pierce’s production has tailed off some the past couple of seasons, but he still remains a solid IDP play in 2009. With the LB position loaded with talent this season, he’s a mid-rounder at best….

TSN is reporting that Colts' defensive tackle Raheem Brock is expected to miss at least three weeks after suffering a broken hand. Brock suffered the injury during the team's first preseason game on Friday night.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Chargers' rookie linebacker Larry English is expected to return to practice this week. English has missed time with a strained hamstring, but he could play in the team's next preseason game on Saturday.

The Contra Costa Times is reporting that Kirk Morrison worked as the second-team middle linebacker at Raiders' practice on Sunday. Morrison was behind Ricky Brown, who worked with other first teamers Jon Alston and Thomas Howard.

My Fantasy Read….
The Charger’s playmaking linebacker is coming off injury and playing in a contract year, expect “Lights-out” to go all out and be a terror on the field. He could have a huge impact season in 2009 and should be drafted high…..
The Bill’s top rookie pick Aaron Maybin is quickly turning into a fantasy bust for 2009. Unless Maybin finds his way back on the field soon, it’s hard to imagine him making any kind of impact anytime soon this season. It’s likely best to avoid the rookie in fantasy drafts……
With Jermaine Phillips moving back to his normal position, at least for the first four games, his fantasy stock will be on the rise. Playing safety collecting tackles, Phillips is a decent option as a mid-level defensive back……
The bad news surrounding the Colts defensive back Bob Sanders (knee) will also less of an impact in IDP leagues than it will in leagues that employ team defense. Sanders is the anchor for the Colts defense, his absence will be felt…….
Despite all the time missed, the Niner’s linebacker Patrick Willis is a stud IDP’er and should be ready to go for week one. Fantasy owners draft away……
Defensive lineman Robert Mathis is slated to start this season for the Colts, but although he may see a few extra snaps this season, he’ll likely be a part of a regular rotation. His fantasy value will increase some, but not a great deal. Draft accordingly….
The Raider’s linebacker Kirk Morrison is still expected to be the man in the middle on defense. Last season the Raider’s middle linebacker was among the leaders in tackles and should be solid once again……
