THE FANTASY FIXX
Hot Hands for 2009
Roddy White#84, WR-(Atlanta Falcons)….
The Falcons former first round pick in the 2005 NFL draft finally came into his own as a top tier receiver in the league last season. After emerging as a rising star in the 2007 with an 83 receptions for 1,202-yards campaign, White followed that up with a spectacular 2008 season.

What makes White such an effective receiver for the Falcons is his great hands and deceptive speed. In 2008 White ranked sixth in the league with 18 receptions of 20-yards or more. White also elevated his overall play last season with 88 catches for almost 1,400-yards and seven touchdowns to become an unquestionable top 10 fantasy receiver for 2009.
Last year White was targeted 148 times (ranked 7th) making him one of this years more attractive options. He also had seven games last season in which he surpassed 100-yards receiving.
What to expect in 2009…
White may have a tough time trying to better his 2008 output this coming season, as he’ll likely share some big catches with the Falcons newest offensive addition tight end Tony Gonzalez. The addition of Gonzalez may actually improve White’s opportunities in the red-zone with opposing defenses now having to be concerned with the big pass-receiving tight end.
The Falcon’s wideout has proven his big play ability and secured himself as a favorite of quarterback Matt Ryan, so fantasy owners can expect good things in 2009. White should be a safe top 15 pick in up coming fantasy drafts. (2009 predictions: 81 receptions, 1,205-yards, 11 touchdowns)
