Sunday Football Notes

Week 14 Injury round-up

Notable Offensive Player Injuries

Matt Hasselbeck-QB (Seahawks)
The Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck aggravated a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Texans, but was able to return to the game after a bried absence. Hasselbeck finished the game with 247 yards, but was relatively ineffective all day under constant pressure from the defense.

Vince Young-QB (Titans)
The Titans quarterback Vince Young left Sunday's game against the Rams following a hamstring injury. In the second quarter Young scrambled free and scampered his way 44 yards before pulling up lame. Young exited the game and did not return, but finished the game with 132 yards passing, with one touchdown pass, and 44 yards rushing. Owners should check on his status later in the week.

Pierre Thomas-RB (Saints)
The Saints running back Pierre Thomas suffered a foot injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Falcons. Thomas left the game to get checked, but returned to finish the game with 100 total yards. He looks like he'll be good to go next week against the Cowboys.

Kevin Smith-RB (Lions)
The Lions running back Kevin Smith suffered a left knee injury late in Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Smith was injured during a run when he stopped awkwardly and immediately went down on the play. Smith had to be carted off.

Correll Buckhalter-RB (Broncos)
The Broncos running back Correll Buckhalter suffered an ankle injury in the first half of Sunday's tilt with the Indianapolis Colts. Buckhalter left the game following the injury and did not return. He finished the day with just four carries for 19 yards.

Derrick Mason-WR (Ravens)
The Ravens receiver Derrick Mason took a hard shot early in Sunday's contest with the Lions. Mason stayed on his feet during the play and took the short pass 62-yards into the endzone. Mason was grimmacing in pain, but remained in the game. He did leave early once the contest was decided and the injury doesn't appear to be serious.

Nate Burleson-WR (Seahawks)
The Seahawks wide receiver Nate Burleson sustained what was believed to be a minor ankle injury on sunday, but word is now he will undergo an MRI on Monday.

Davone Bess-WR (Dolphins)
The Dolphins wide receiver Davone Bess (ankle) was dinged up on Sunday against Jaguars and had to leave the game briefly. He did return, but was a non-factor for much of the day catching just three balls for 22 yards.

Jeremy Maclin-WR (Eagles)
The Eagles rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin left Sunday night's game against the Giants in the first half with a foot injury. According to NBC's Andrea Kramer during the SNF telecast when Maclin was carted off he was visibly upset. The injury reported was his plantar fasciitis flared up in the second quarter.
 
Notable Defensive Player Injuries

Vince Wilfork-DL (Patriots)
The Patriots defensive lineman vince Wilfork injured his ankle and left Sunday's game against the Panthers briefly. Upon his return a few plays later he apparently reaggravated the same injury and exited the game again. He has been troubled with foot and ankle injuries all season.

DeMarcus Ware-LB (Cowboys)
The Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware suffered an apparent head/neck injury early in the fourth quarter against the Chargers. Ware was immobilized and carted off the field. Initial reports are calling the injury a sprained neck and Ware has movement in all his extremities. He was taken to the hospital for X-rays and further examination. Owners will have to check his status later in the week.

Aaron Curry-LB (Seahawks)
The Seahawks rookie linebacker Aaron Curry suffered a hip pointer on Sunday in the team's matchup with the Texans. Curry had to be carted off and X-rays following the game showed no fracture. IDP owners will need to check his status during the week.

Nnamdi Asomugha-DB (Raiders)
The Raiders shutdown corner Nnamdi Asomugha left Sunday's game against the Redskins after suffering a right forearm injury. There is no update on the seriousness of the injury.
