My Fantasy Reads and Quick Takes…

On WR-Michael Clayton:
The Buc’s receiver has virtually disappeared the last couple of seasons and it appears with this latest injury he could preparing to do the same once again…..

On RB-Pierre Thomas:
Fantasy owners are holding their breath on this one. The early reports indicate nothing serious, so a big sigh of relief for owners. Thomas is going to be a solid RB2 in fantasy this season…..

On WR-Hakeem Nicks:
The Giants receivers positions appear to be open to debate; no standouts this year. Nicks is only a rookie, but full of talent and good size he could break into the lineup and make some noise……

On WR-Javon Walker:
The Raiders receiver has been activated, but fantasy interest has not……

On RB-Brian Westbrook:
The Eagles super-stud runner has been looking good, but proof will be in the contact. He’s expected to start practicing this week and a healthy return will make Westy as solid low-end RB1 in fantasy, especially in PPR leagues……

On RB-Edgerrin James:
He’s coming in at the age of 31 and probably won’t factor huge into the running game. With the release of TJ Ducket, it looks like James could fill more of the role of short-yardage and goal-line ball carrier for the Seahawks. This would be a similar situation that Julius Jones played in when he was a Cowboy…..

On RB-Chris Wells:
The Cardinal’s rookie looked good Monday and with two games left on the docket he has plenty of time to unseat the team’s current starter, Tim Hightower. Wells is the odds-on favorite to start this season at some point, more likely sooner than later…..

On QB-Carson Palmer:
The team is being cautious with their starter, but the good news here is the injury is to Palmer’s ankle and not his throwing arm. Palmer figures to be an undervalued solid play in fantasy this season and can most likely be grabbed in the middle rounds…..

On QB-Chris Simms:
With the ankle injury, go Simms chances at winning a starting gig in Denver. Simms did play well in his first preseason game and appears to be a quality back-up for Orton. And considering the inconsistency with Kyle thus far, Simms could still have a shot at starting at some point this season…..

On QB-Brett Favre:
The jury is still out on Favre, but we’ll have a great opportunity to see exactly what he has left in his tank. Favre is expected to play the first half in the Vikings next preseason game…..

On WR-Terrell Owens:
The Bills are expecting big things from T.O. this season, so his slow return is more likely the team playing it safe than anything else. Without a timetable set for his return, don’t expect to see much more of T.O. this preseason. But we fully expect to see him back on the field in time for the team’s opener….

On RB-Reggie Bush:
While Reggie expects to play in the team’s next preseason game, we remain a bit skeptical. Since his offseason surgery Bush has not had a smooth recovery and there are plenty of signs to indicate he could be a big risk at a high pick….
